β€œOne day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.” - Lewis Carroll

MTN share price is up today.

Sold.

Despite me thinking that MTN is a good investment, but the previous few days indicated to me that MTN or the market are both risky and unpredictable.

I would like to know, why people were selling at shockingly low prices in the past few days, despite MTN saying a few days ago that the results will be fine.

The only recent news article that's discussing MTN dip, that I found, is this:

https://www.business...since-november/

But I'm still buzzelled about the reason(s) of this dip, what am I missing ?

Thanks In. Seems to be getting strong again. It will be difficult to get out of Nigeria. 😊

From what I understand MTN share price is worth R100 without the Nigeria business. So probably not a bad buy, but not a company I like and I am sure I am not the only one.

MTN displays a corporate identity of predating on their witless subscribers. Like making them phone a special number of they want to opt out of becoming unwilling subscribers to a contractual acceptance for a service access that ensues should there be no record of having dialed the number. Predatory, illegal, immoral, sure - thats what MTN has always stood for.
They spam their witless subscribers and ensure that there is no way to opt out of their incessant nefarious schemes deigned to rob the most vulnerable in our overly vulnerable failure of a Nation. Both having no moral fiber in their core due to no related core. No rule of law due to oversubscribed abuse of the weakness of law known as greed from within. When the law is not respected and only greed motivates all - what describes this lamentable state?
If in doubt try MTN
So you don't want data, but your SP wants to access your everything and sell it on without asking or telling. Easy - you all get limited free data until we make out if your worth milking. If you not worth future revenue then we take your acceptance of free data as agreement to be charged without further ado.
Are we scumbags? You cannot call a criminal organisation a scumbag because this would be offensive and there are laws that protect scumbags from their victims you know. Ask any scumbag legal 'professional'.
Bottom line is that scumbag market participants like scumbag corporate shares, so the 'professional' view is buy the rubbish.

Agree fully, I have lodged so many complaints with ICASA, MTN is intrusive, the MTN cheap SIM they got from China is invasive: like telling me I missed a call and my phone telling me I missed a call and wanting to add spammers to my contact list. They 'automatically' subscribed me for monthly airtime to data conversion, no consent, not even asked, just started stealing my airtime. I am on prepaid, get better deals on handset upfront and can't argue with 40 million south africans :-).

  1. Trusting strangers on an anonymous chat forum can be a risky business. Even more risky than the stock market.
  2. I have tried to warn the vulnerable, being those without adequate savvy: e.g.: https://swrict.blogspot.com/2018/11/sharechat-warning.html
  3. Vultures circle hereabouts. Give them control and say goodbye to your money.
