Shares could be affected if company liquidated. There are accounting irregularities and share could be worthless, hopefully some cents for those that have invested.....

Liquidated? Seems a bit far fetched.

Trading on JSE is still frozen. Reading latest SENS (14/08) Sounds like CHP may be pulling out of SA. What does this mean for anyone currently holding shares?

The shares wont be affected. They just selling off their SA stores - not a positive sign for SA though.

Yea dividend those are worries.... I think they are financially strong tho... Insurance I'm sure they sorted out with that... If u look at the reports on looting in Zimbabwe, it was mostly choppies shops that were looted? I don't see that as coincidence... Big players in choppies

I'm hoping to see the suspension lifted soon

Expanding too fast is a worry, they are in about 8 countries now and most still loss making as they in start up phase, but Botswana still the cash cow that should support the expansion. Zimbabwe may also be sorted, but a further worry is a number of stores were destroyed/looted in recent riots, so hopefully adequate insurance was in place.

Yup, well that Zim share issue has been sorted out. Big question now is how the market will respond after suspension lifted.

From what I've been reading etc, choppies does have a strong balance sheet and a good business model. They are expanding fast which is good but let's hope they manage that expansion well

100-1 they will now release financials

I also feel they have just been waiting for this to happen so that they can have clarity for the AFS. Lets see, have been monitoring them on facebook etc and they still opening stores and growing, so think (and pray) things not as bad everyone assumes.

Financials shudve been out already.... It can never take this long given that they published Financials in April ?

This company shud be delisted and never given an opportunity to list again. Dickheads.

Criticism

Choppies has attracted criticism from the public in the past due to salary discrepancy. Employees such as cashiers and packers claim to earn less than P900 a month, whilst executives such as the CEO and Deputy Chairman earn more than P30 000 000.00 per annum. This has attracted outrage as the company is historically very profitable yet is not rewarding the lower-skilled workers on terms they consider fair to their efforts; in 2011 the Group made over P124 million in after-tax profits, with a dividend in excess of P121 million being paid out to shareholders.

Dear Jesus, what planet is this?

  1. Trusting strangers on an anonymous chat forum can be a risky business. Even more risky than the stock market.
  2. I have tried to warn the vulnerable, being those without adequate savvy: e.g.: https://swrict.blogspot.com/2018/11/sharechat-warning.html
  3. Vultures circle hereabouts. Give them control and say goodbye to your money.

Suspension not a good development, but if it is just a case of they need some more time to complete the financials, then I think it is the right thing to do. If they release them soon I am sure the suspension would be lifted. I really hope this is the case.

yup suspension is the right thing to do! hope it is not followed with delisting eish then big kak
