Bought a few more here R149+change.

Worst behind them & good chunk of debt repaid.

Should find some of it's former shine

I know it was probably a stupid move, but I cashed in all my APN shares and moved on. There will most likely be a good run in the weeks to come, but lately it has been a headless chicken. In general I am not impressed with the pharmaceutical shares in this country, they have not been shining like I expected.

So now with the Astra vaccine proven to be ineffective will the Gov now steer most of it's attention to the Aspen produced J&J one shot....??

Buy the rumour....

Taken from Moneyweb..

South Africa’s health ministry said on Friday that the government had signed off on a term sheet for 9 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine at $10 a dose.

What I've been waiting for.....Uncertainty out of the way now we can grind higher.

Good w/end people.

From R138 yesterday to almost R145 today...I hope this means the market is waking up.

Looks like we are going to breach the R140 mark today...the downward trend is gaining momentum so now the question is where will it turn? Very frustrating.

Morning all...

I have Aspen shares & believe in the shrewd management now that they have had their nose bloodied by those expensive deals they concluded with Glaxo which caused them to sell the infant milk business...Their crown jewel & money printing machine literally...

They have received some negative attention by EU regulators & selling some of the more monopolistic injectables businesses is a step back under the radar.

I feel there'll be the mild volatility until year end when the sale concludes & the cash is allocated...Hopefully entirely towards debt....Then they can re-boot focus on improving margins on existing businesses & really cementing their local knowledge & position above all others.

Should they choose to acquire something then borrow for that..

It's a solid profitable business that has a bright future & these top guys Saad & Atteridge have plenty skin in this...I'm always a buyer below R130

Have a profitable day.

Cheers.

Started the year at R125 busy in the early R140's now....I'd say buy into any weakness as I doubt we're gonna see sub R140 again.

My reasons....Most of the Northern Hemisphere are in hard lockdown & vaccines are in early yet voluminous roll-out so large swathes of populations will be vaccinated prior to the onset of spring. Then a normalization inclusive of summer holidays abroad & the resumption  of more pronounced air travel to follow. Southern Hemisphere are about to receive from the Covax initiative J&J vaccine expected to be approved in the next 10 days so the Port Elizabeth facility to be maxed out productivity wise. Their other businesses are now leaner & meaner from a margin perspective & the EU regulator has more important things to focus on.

I see blue sky's above & APN is set to be a star performer IMHO for the year ahead.

My 2c.

Still a lot of debt on their balance sheet & they also no longer have the infant milk business......That was cash generating machine of note.

Well above R140 as I type & with volume...Healthy shade of green is my holding now....I'm not worried here no more...

Such a nice pump this morning again, only to retrace completely...and now there was little to no activity followed by a sudden dump. I don't understand these pharmaceutical shares at all, they should have been outperforming most others in my mind.

I am probably just being impatient and not looking at the bigger picture.

Me Thinks some of the Big Boys are feeling comfortable to buy now.....Some of them still waaaaaay in the red here & averaging down with more confidence than before even though it's not their money....

Yesterday was a big day to get over R140 with volume has to hold for today & maybe we're off....

Was off to a flying start this morning, but now she seems to be sliding back down the rabbit hole...waiting for the RSI to hit oversold and see what happens, but that will be below the R138 mark so lets hope she turns course before then.

Been pumping good past couple days, will be tested on that R150 mark again, low volumes traded tho

Surely a good company to put money on with this virus

Morning Leadingedge...Yeah fully Re: Gov of the day....Export or local content makes no diff to me as long as their facility is pumping & there's a possibility of them producing ingredients from their other facilities in other countries.

Up another 3+% as I type.

Another reason is that government is in advanced talks with J&J to secure the vaccine...either way Aspen will help produce the vaccine for J&J, the only difference is whether it is exported or not.

And there you have it, I really hope the pump lasts for a few more days...we arent quite into overbought territory yet.

Kinda negates previous post..

To be fair, anything is possible with this government of ours...they only scrambled now due to pressure, and even then I am not sure where they got the funds from.
