Interesting discovery challenging government.... Brave and foolish... Discovery administrator has more to lose from health reform as regulatiin can prevent brokers from selling the produxts and limit the admin charge levied from scheme to parent administrator....
Pla dont antogonise gov... Revenues already threatened.....

Health care stocks in the US are also tanking. So that and the NHI have contributed big time. When the US stocks start turning so will ours.

Shares down 8% today.... Is something other than nhi driving the price down... Perhaps it's reforms limiting revenue... Perhaps it's something else.... We will find out eventually

Speaking to a broker today, concerned that brokerage fees will be lost and discovery will lose their greatest marketing channel.
Also indicated discovery administrator bills discovery scheme almost 250% more than what gems pays their administrator.
Even if nhi does not happen.... Discovery in for loss in revenue and the bad exposure on some of their actions may further impact price... None confirmed but inauramce brokers usually have the inside track, especially now that they will lose all the fringe benefits

Absolutely. And they have been managing this risk since 2010 odd... The guys on top are clever... Moved alot of their money out of the country and arbitrage share holding.. That's why I am worried that the smart guys will have margin calls and the share price will take a further hammer ring...
Great share, clever entrepreneurs

My guess the market will start to go into their other businesses in finer detail arrive at a figure for those & apportion the SA discount to their SA business thus the new price range.

Once SA business is ring fenced market settles down...Plenty of examples Anglo American & Billiton being the largest I recall & Goldfields the most recent..!

These guys at the top have serious skin in the game & are very clever peops who can ply their trade elsewhere maybe they go the Old Mutual route & relocate head office split the business & adios...

The Adrian Gore's of the world don't rest

Whether nhi is a reality or not is not the issue...
The real question would be the middle ground that discovery and medical aids will have to achieve.
Which would reduce membership of private insurance and any other business would be at a significantly lower costs than currently achieved.
The financial impact is massive to moderate and the market is pricing this in. The market is inflated and all stakeholders will see fat trimmed.

The market has valid concerns and the share will bottom and get a new base.

Issues on banking and foreign dumping may also contribute as well as possible margin calls. Guessing here.
I like the company and would buy especially at the right price.. Hopefully it reached r75 or lower... But if not will get on the turnaround especially under r105

Market is being irrational, NHI is not going to happen, full stop.

+1

But Mr Market knows when to buy in I don't....Sidelines till then as this could go waaaaaaay lower purely on fear & short selling the rumour..

Nhi definately has an impact here, but foreigners dumping sa stock and where they may have held onto this share now have more than one reason to sell.
Analysts had this as a majority sell for sometime.

NHI is an Eskom on steroids....

I wonder if this share would hit lows seen prior to 2014....anything is possible... Will definately buy this share at r40

Some put the post rights issue price at 120 come Monday.

So, the N share will then trade around 30 bucks.

Do you expect the fire claims to be material?

Thought it may be, although since it's more or less under control, probably not. Some houses that were in danger are valued and insured for more than R50m per house. But then again, Discovery insure is surely quite small compared to the likes if Santam and Zurich in that arena.

Unsure why this is going up - claims will start piling in soon with these fires in Cape Town.

Once that's priced in, perhaps a good time to get in.

Do not try and bend the market. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see, that it is not the market that bends, it is only yourself.
