Cut & Paste jobbie from Miningmx
Wescoal said the deal will re-open mineral reserves that otherwise stood to be sterilised. Arnot is adjacent to Eskom’s Arnot Power Station which was sourcing some four million tonnes a year (Mt/y) of thermal coal from the mine.
At the time of its closure, Exxaro said that including Mooifontein – an extension that Eskom was not prepared to finance – coal mineable reserves totalled 70 million tonnes (Mt) of which 34Mt were underground and 36Mt were open cast. There were also future reserves that existed within the Arnot mining area that could extend the life of the mine in the future, Exxaro said.
Wescoal said that the coal would be delivered to the power station through a conveyer belt, resulting in a cost competitive advantage with minimum carbon tax impact.
So Life of mine some 9yrs @ 4mil tons per yr...Open cast & we can do that easy peasy...Or am I missing something..?

Morning Midas.
From an Exxaro point it's a good thing all round for them. Namely closure & rehabilitation costs will cease & all obligations from signature date will then cease also.
Wescoal get to look like shining knights coming in to save the day...they also buy out minorities in 2yrs (or costly litigate them away see below.... keep the main okes running the show & hey presto they have another suite of processing equipment & a profitable mine situated in Mpumalanga all for R100mil (to start...? not sure of life of Arnot will have to check.
This is bourne out of hey days of Gupta influence on Eskom. Create a crisis so they could circumvent procedure & sign short term supply agreements at stupid money per ton of coal.
Hats off to the employees who after 4yrs of nothing now look like they've pulled off something neither business rescue nor Exxaro were interested in achieving.
Big statement I know but here goes... Wescoal are the next Exxaro in the making.....
Have a good day
Oh & do your own homework....Geez nearly forgot that...!

Have to say I'm glad the chairman has moved aside..
Institutional support is what is needed here so these new appointments are all clearly aligned to address that need.
Next set of results not so stellar but the Universal deal will by far positively outweigh them.
Good news me thinks...
Nice W/end peops
Cheers.

Here's a link to today's announcement.

Not really sure of their strategy of being a "consolidator" in the small/medium coal sector if it involves costly delays & only concludes after costly litigation.
Lost their CEO 17% down on ROM from last quarter obviously the above has taken considerable senior management effort & time.
Conclusion just buy the people out in entirely....Geezz enough already...

Only sellers that can off-load around c150 are pre-rights issue even then they looking at break-even.
But hey can't get on the bus if you don't buy a ticket.
Good luck & well done if you get c150.

It's purely retail nerves...could be some previous Keaton holders not happy with their new home...
As mentioned if you wanna off-load 000,000's you gonna take a beeg haircut.
We get's a decent divi last few yrs & that's not changing anytime soon.
Keith (small caps Keith) Tweeted Eskom even pays them early...
Institutional support is what's missing here finish & claar....!
made some easy money on that keaton deal buying keaton and selling off once swopped with Wescoal..
But if it hits R1.50 bid im in...

Elandspruit.... Run of Mine +/-3mil tons per yr...Life of Mine +\-7-8yr...
Vanggatfontein...Run of Mine +/-2.5mil tons per yr.... Life of mine +/-8yrs.
Khanyisa complex up & running now about 0.5-0.8mil tons per year. Life of mine +\-4yrs This will be ramped up by now to +/-1mil tons per yr
Moabsvelden small capex bit like Elandspruit will add another +/-2mil tons per yr...I'm sure once the Universal deal is wrapped up this will get go-ahead.
Their target is 8mil tons per yr.
They produced 6.8mil tons FY2018.
What gets sometimes lost in the whole BEE noise is Eskom only takes 50% of their product. They are the biggest domestic coal trader by faaaaaar.
thats not too shabby then..may be worth a punt
