Saad added that Aspen is “well-positioned to go into quick production” of the drug within its South African, Australian and European operations.

Enquiries from all quarters

Asked if the group has already seen a spike in demand, he said Aspen has seen enquiries for the drug “from everywhere”, including the South African government and the WHO.

“Our government has contacted us a couple of times already, wanting to understand the capacity and capabilities we have,” he said. “And, interestingly not just enquiring for South Africa, but for all of Africa, which I was particularly pleased to see … sort of working continentally.”

In the light of yesterday’s announcement on #dexamethasone from UK’s recovery trial, says will update clinical guidance "to reflect how and when dexamethasone should be used to treat #covid19": "This is very welcome news for those patients with severe #covid19.”

Has always been used for icu patients. Already in public sector protocols, cheap and available. Great news but won't result in any maddive revenue spikes. Lots of generics as well.

Yes sir.. Dexamethasone. For icu patients ventilated as one of the treatment protocols. Been used in public hospitals with chloroquine since march

yes, but now there's a stydy proving it saves lives. only drug so far to do that. Also Dr Mkhize and Dept of health came out with a statement late last night, saying they're adopting its use as policy.

Interesting provision by discovery, expect this share to come under massive strain in the coming weeks as the wave of corona opens up. The provision may have been understated to prevent market panic........ Expect them to lose 5-10% of their high risk elderly lives under insurance and similar from 30 age group...... Not only affecting claims settlement quantum but also ability to collect premiums.... Underwriting losses to quadruple.... No mention of the impact of retrenchments.....and loss of the payers... Rather than the claimers..... Cross subsidisation model in tatters...... Short this share for three months... Expect with the bank loans.... And some margin calls.... This could be a r15 share
.... Potentially propped up by the institutional investors....

Hospitals empty..... 60% down..... Wonder will post lockdown recovery be sufficient. As price hedging by medical aids may have locked in cheaper care for covid and banked savings perhaps all balances out in the end...

Crazy to see market sentiment and hospital shares not flying... Yet... May be a lag... Must be foreign outflows blocking potential takeoff... Hospitals are full, beds are full, business is up, going to see record revenues in a month...... This is pre winter.... Min reliance on china products and services.... Expect these shares to give good gains..
SA beyyer poaitioned than many other economies... We are self reliant on anumber of fronts... Home production may show an uptick...

Walkinto the bloem life hospital and hospitals pumping... Similar at mayo flora roodepoort
Love this share, rand hedge and soon to hear about alzheimers research treatment... Pump is on... Or a life long investment... Pun intended...
With fear of carona... Lots of hospital admission.. Negative results equal hospital revenue.. Either way
