So it looks like we have a polarized forum. Some will be shorting , believing this taper will soon show it's negative impact on our emerging market. And others will be buying any sort of dip believing the santa rally shall finally begin now that the taper uncertainty has been put to rest.

Anybody have any theories as to why the markets have risen based on the taper decision. This makes no sense to me.

$75Bn still a lot of money. Question is, where will the $10Bn cut impact most? My guess is emerging markets, with the US still getting their share? Hence the upward move of the US markets and our indices just following. Tomorrow the impact on our (SA & EM) share markets should be negative. I'm net short.

MIssed my entry with probably 10 points at 38950. Would have made a killing with Alsi too.

US markets still relatively strong. Think we should see a good drop after US close.

The market went up because of the other data and FED anouncements. They said rates will remain low for some time and that taper will happen very gradually. Bloomberg.....

Hence no one wants to put their money in something with a low yield i.e. Bonds

I've been waiting to buy gold at R1180 which I hoped it would pull back to on Taper announcement,.. Didn't happen, now not sure if bottom is in and all is priced in.
