Morning traders....

Would like to hear some views on the source data for pivot point and related data point calculations. The IGM cash data gives for today, PP = 38 427, R1 = 38 636 and S1 = 38 292. This was calculated from the yesterday's high, low and close. However, the data timeline exceeds the standard trading time. Therefor, for example, the close was 38 502, which is rather more than the 1700 close in the region of 38 340 ish. Thus different baseline figures will produce different pivot point data......any thoughts?

Plasma

The majority of brokers use the SAFEX data:
R1 38 542.
PP 38 368
S1 38 178.

The guys at IG tells me that ~96% of trading on their platform takes place during normal trading hours anyway.
I am happy to use the SAFEX related figures, this way when you discuss it on forums, twitter, etc. you don't get any confusion.

Thanks JJBEN :)

Pre market not looking that strong. I'll wait and see what happens when equities open.

Morning Jakes, the markets should rally a little bit.

But it should be limited.

I still prefer to short the rallies.

Short anywhere between 38500-38900.

Just use proper money management.

If markets closes above 38900 i will become bullish.

MTN is a good one Just make sure you get Vodacom too.

Tigerbrands looks like it can be a good swing trade.

Morning 'Sunesis' and everyone , what is your likely short list of shares to show good oversold bounces , not just at opening gap up but through out day??  I sense the distinct possibility of severe short covering and thus possibly leading to an Island Top formation..

MTN

Tigerbrands

Old Mutual

Vodacom

Coronation

Maybe Richemont and Oceana

Talk of WAR dies down, markets settle.

Stocks should find a relief rally.

Obama Says: A strike against Syria would 'absolutely' be put on hold if Assad abandons chemical weapons. Russia's proposal for Syria a potential 'positive development'

Oversold stocks should rally today.

If the rally is strong we can expect the 38750 zones. From there i will short

Enjoy your day
