I've been looking at PPC and I cant seem to find support for the current share price (it's too high).

Looking at their results for the quarter ended June 2016 it can be seen that they are not even making a profit... R87 mil profit for the quarter BUT interest was capitalised to their projects to the tune of over R100mil... accounting practices aside... they are making a loss.

This result is also not taking into account the massive dilution because of the rights issue AND the R400mil in transaction costs

Anyone else holding PPC?

I'm contemplating whether to take up my rights or sell them

Was short from around 790 - stop at 950 - so got out yesterday at 957! What timing!!

I was wtf is this share going up.

:( Ah well, sticking to the 2% rule so not too bad of a loss- then got a little bit back on a cheeky scalp this morning.

Early indications the "containment selling" is now at the R11950 level.....Only thing that comes to mind now is IF fund managers come in to prior to quarter end in 2wks surely most funds hold MTN in some quantity.....but is this bargain level in their eyes yet....?

I've been short from 24565 - day before LDT.  Looking a 11300 as TP. More on FA - just overpriced IMO.

Well not going as per previous post but down is down.....Was a little worried at that spike up at the open....Sub R122 at the close has me smiling...Gonna bank some tomorrow....Zumanomics has spooked me a little.

For the record I is looking to get into Nedbank cos they is probably more exposed to the domestic market for a healthy short position....Reason we is sure to be down-graded come December & markets will start to price that in soon.

What hasn't been mentioned a lot is Gordhan quitting, I know I would with this level of K@K on a daily basis....

I've been short MTN for a week nearly after seeing some huge containment selling, I'm working on a theory that there's HUGE money sitting under R119/share.

Even today there's a very similar pattern to this price action. While I realize I is liable for the divi come close of business today I has the required margin to cover it sitting in profit if you will....So to expand me thinks whom ever is behind this is going to WHACK this counter with all their might first thing in the morning to drive it below R119......Check volumes at specific levels today being R125 & now R124.50.....While I would not advise shorting at this level if tomorrow morning this plays out I may add to my short should my theory prove true......

Remember I is some guy/gal on the internet.....Who may/may not be bald.....winky eye face

Went long MTN - bullishness seems to be continueing this morning.

Also went short KIO - let's see how this one performs.  Hopefully okay if iron ore permanently retreats below $60.

MTN - added more at R126

KIO - closed at breakeven

New trades:

Long Hulamin, target R590 (worth more, just worried about the market's appetite for the stock..)

Hi Guys

What is the rule of thumb one needs to apply when setting stop losses for CFD trades?

Say i went short AGLcfd this morning @ 156.42.

Where should my stop loss ideally be?

This article changed the game for me, my stops are based on volatility, I use the ATR, http://www.seeitmark...ng-stops-13481/

Hi Guys

What is the rule of thumb one needs to apply when setting stop losses for CFD trades?

Say i went short AGLcfd this morning @ 156.42.

Where should my stop loss ideally be?

My take on this is...Lots of standard strategy recommends the 2% of capital loss ratio per trade works well if you stick to it, however with some stocks eg. Kumba you could get knocked out regularly while only enriching the market maker (they are also very aware of the 2% method when stop hunting) so get to know the trading ranges/patterns of say AGL, also the time of day I mention that because when UK opens AGL has a spike in volume (not always) but things to consider. Another is a breach of previous days high/low....Obviously the support & resistance levels are key....Set a target price to exit the trade & work back your profit/loss ratio could also help determine a stop level. If scalping then why bother take the profit, take the hit & move on. It's most def a grey area so be interested to read other forumers tactics.

Hope it helps & Best of luck whatever you decide.

Cheers.
