You all seem very impressed with Ellies. what is it about them thats so attractive? long term or short term aswell?

Apart from the guys on this forum convincing me, just go have a look at their stuff at Game.. they are everywhere and given recent good fortune, there will probably be lots more to come if they keep this trend up!

High growth company, HEPS grew >100% at last report

Low PE of 12 (ttm)

Earnings Yield of >8%

ROE ~30%

Africa footprint

and management has delivered although if you read the blogs here you will see some justifiable criticism on a few issues like their debt management and divi decision

Also, seen a very nice pullback recently so perfect opportunity to jump in

thanx man, you guys have an awesome little share community going here  no homo hahah. also been having a look at LAF recently and was about to climb in just before they announced that there was a really big bid put in from some london investment firm, cant quite remember the name. what are you guys take on where their price is at and what might happen once they are listed on the london stock exchange aswell as they have just applied for this

Do not try and bend the market. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see, that it is not the market that bends, it is only yourself.

On Windows you can press the prtsc button towards the top right of the keyboard, open paint and just paste

Or the snipping tool

It looks like he is taking a screenshot, and then cutting out the graph

Correct. I use my Galaxy Android Tablet and take a screenshot then use "Photo Editor" to cut it and "Draw on Picture" to write on it.
I can't do any of that on my laptop. Haven't looked for windows apps yet.

Orca, could you please tell me how you generate your charts, because I'm currently using excel to generate my own and it takes forever

Sent from my GT-S5660 using Sharenet Sharechat mobile app

http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks

In the "search" box type in your stock followed by J.J ie CMLJ.J (JHB JSE)

A day chart will open. Click on "charts"

A 3 month chart will open that you can change to 1y, 2y etc

Now if you want to compare, click on the blue "comparisons" box

A small box will open where you type in ELIJ.J. Don't click anything yet.

Wait while it searches for it and writes it below the box.

Click on it.

Now you have 2 stocks in 1 chart.

If you want say 20SMA. Click on the blue "overlay" box and choose "SMA"

A 13SMA line will show. To change this.

On the top of your chart will be 4 items. CMLJ.J, NEWS, ELIJ.J and SMA.

You can clear NEWS or any stock by clicking on the orange X next to it.

Click on SMA. Not on the X

A box will open with 13 in it.

Click on the box and delete it.

Type in 20 and click on Update.

Play and get to know all the other stuff.

if ELI reaches R9 or below i'll swop out my MTA holdings.

I'll be very surprised if it drops below R9 as there has been no bad news and good results are expected in a couple months. I've been filling my boots at these prices and at 920c you are getting a bargain. Been a great month for me, got more CML on that dip a week back and now got more ELI. Very happy :D

What to buy in MTA's place? Looking at this chart, BAT and OML haven't performed well enough for me. Perhaps ELI? Then again, MTA does not look too bad.attachicon.gifWhatobuy.jpg

Orca, how do you copy these graphs/pics? I rightclick, but not enough options.

My portfolio looks like an index fund / unit trust at the moment; all stocks doing OK. Can't keep an eye on them all however, but finding it very difficult deciding which to get rid of and when. What is a good selling/taking profit strategy? Anybody's got a good technique for keeping only the best shares? (Maybe start a new topic?)

Start a new one.
