Gemfields was at 47p at 30 June. We are currently at the same level. If we close at current levels I am sure management will reduce the NAV of their investments to ca. 650c from the last reported 710c. At 400c the share is trading at a 35% discount to its NAV. A very good interview with Ian Harebottle the Gemfields CEO on Youtube highlights how cheap that company really is

Check SoleTrader's post

Don't know how I missed that one  but now it definitely makes sense to add. Thinking of putting a bid in at 400c

I am also looking to add to mine if it drops below 400c. Any idea what caused the recent pullback though? I didn't see anything on the SENS.

Stock down to 380c and slight rebound in the auction. Rumour that one of the Momentum funds having large outflows, with the portfolio manager liquidating. Nothing to be concerned about. Gemfields announced the discovery of a large high quality 40 carat ruby last week, and a process to get Faberge to a $1bn value within two years. This stock is going to be a winner. Been long and staying long.

Trading statement

In accordance with the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, Pallinghurst gives notice that it is now reasonably
certain that its financial results for the interim period to 30 June 2014 will differ by more than 20% compared
to the financial results for the period to 30 June 2013.

Pallinghurst expects that earnings and headline earnings per share will increase to US$0.14, compared to a loss
and headline loss per share of US$0.10 for the six months ended 30 June 2013.

The significant period on period increase in earnings and headline earnings is primarily attributable to
increases in the valuation of Pallinghurst?s interests in Gemfields plc and Jupiter Mines Limited, which are held
at fair value.

Pallinghurst expects that net asset value per share at 30 June 2014 will increase to US$0.68 (US$0.43 at 30
June 2013; US$0.55 at 31 December 2013).

The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on by
Pallinghurst?s auditors. Pallinghurst?s financial results for the period ended 30 June 2014 are expected to be
released on SENS on or about 22 September 2014.

Interesting break in the price today, and one can understand why.  The stock is cheap.  It has 3 investments, namely a stake in Sedibelo Platinum, one in Jupiter mines and a stake in the listed GEMFIELDS (listed on the LSE).  Now looking at the NAV of the 3 entities involved, and using the historic value of Sedibelo and Jupiter as per their balancesheet, I get a NAV of > 700c per PGL share.  The share at 425c is therefore cheap.  Once we see the separate listing of Sedibelo, I think we will see discount to NAV close considerably, and the shareprice trade closer to the 800c level.  So I am long, and waiting!
