Hey guys,
Thanks for responses, lots of people on IG, some not so happy re slippage etc but hey thats anecdotal reports, prob not factual.
I didnt want to open another trading acc as was all set up on OST just their charts were crap.

Also even with the iress platform you have to leave your pc logged into your trading account which dont really like doing cos I like to have price streams on pc all day ie for my watchlist.
Still dont see why Std bank wants to charge a monthly fee for iress when they make money when I trade, its not the amount that bugs me just the principle.

So set up an account on investing.com .They have all the SA equities and indices listed, set up watchlist which streams price updates all day. Provide all the charting I need, takes a bit of goofing around with it until you familiarise yourself with the charting tools etc but has everything i need. Oh yes plus its free. Price delay is 15 mins, position trading so not really crucial to see live price action.

Not in any way connected to Investing.com but its cool that you can access this type of data without monthly charges.
They contacted me twice when I set up account to trade cfds with them but I just said no thanks, they havent contacted me since.

Anyway, use it, dont use it ? All good peeps.
Cheers

So just wondering if anyone using the "Iress Viewpoint" software platform that is offered by Std bank OST, i signed up for it and checked out the youtube tutorials, looks pretty good, not much info on the charting functionality though which is a bit of a concern.
My demo period didnt help as there are no system requirements on the website and so couldnt load demo version, my PC is running windows seven so obviously too old.
My ipad nor Macbook wants to load it either ( even with latest IOS updates)

Std bank says, nobody else has mentioned that the software doesnt load, and they have had no complaints about this.

Is anyone running this stuff and if so what OS have you got, maybe time for me to spring for a new PC ?

Cheers peeps.

I use viewpoint. Its as good as anything out there i.t.o. of Charting functionality. You can add multiple-indicators in real time. The widget based GUI feels quite intuitive. Using Windows 7 as an OS may not necessarily be the root of your issues running, Viewpoint. Make sure you're running it from Internet Explorer, i have had issues using Chrome or Mozilla as the browser.

My only criticism is that Viewpoint does not have a button for you to add a stop/loss when trading through their frontend. So for active trading you kinda need to keep the OST website open in another window as well. You'll then book your trade on Viewpoint, but add the Stop/Loss on OST. Viewpoint allows you add alerts/triggers, but no Stop /Losses. I have asked Std Online Share Trading about this, on their Chat Platform, but still no joy. Schlepp!!

The software offered by Std Online Share Trading before, was dog **** and Viewpoint is exponentially better.

I use SBK Online share trading. They've got Shares, CFDs, Futures, ETFs and Warrants . They added the IRESS viewpoint Trading Platform like a month  ago which is really compelling. Also Prices (Brokerage Fees(especially on CFDs)) are not too bad and there are no minimums for opening accounts with them.

I just wanted to ask around, what trading platform you use for share trading and why?

I am currently with Nedbank but I would like to move to a platform that offers international trading if possible.
