Technical indicators suggest a sell on the 1min to 1hour so we might be going to R14.40-R14.50. Clear break of R14.80 would be the sign.

Crucial move for the Rand vs Euro. Short term high target of R15.50 and long term high of R19+ (IMO) should the R15 trendline break, short term low target of R14.50 should R14.85 break and long term low of R12. The latter scenario is highly unlikely in my opinion given the current RSA economy or lack thereof.

I was also trying to figure this one out. But then again, the markets has had the week to factor this in. I don't think we have ever really recovered. From the Van Rooyen saga the rand has been getting grounded and pounded left right and centre. Since Van Rooyen there was Gupta and everytime Zuma opens his mouth.

I'm seeing this picture of the Rand in the corner, boxing gloves hanging over the ropes, beat up with eyes swollen shut shouting... Adriaaan.... Adriaaaan......

Rand : Rand vs Van Rooyen

Rand 2 : The rise of Gupta

Rand 3 : Golden Gordhan

I'm sure we can sell the movie rights to this.

Also let us not forget that everyone is looking forward to the weekend, so chances are that the markets have not really digested the news yet.

The rand might drop further, which I hope does.
