Sad how people are swindled out of their hard earned money

More preference shares issued, diluting value of all shareholders.

Obviously to fund another acquisition, which may or may not be good for the business/shareholders.

Ordinary shares price took a proper dive, cause ordinary shareholders gets no dividend, just hope that share price will eventually grow.

JK001 I appreciate the info. Ordinary shares are really Undervalued . This Ecsponent thread has really helped me develop interest in preference shares, I need to start digging and separating the "good from the bad".

Also see what AWSM says about grindrod. http://smallcaps.co....s_July-2018.pdf

sometimes companies also allow you to convert preference shares into ordinary shares. that could be beneficial if you agree upfront what the number shares are and when the term expire hopefully the ordinary share price increased. Typically preference shareholders have no voting rights. Then you also have 'unfair' share types, I think like in the case of Naspers type A shares, where these have X number of voting rights more than ordinary shares. every year a contentious subject when it comes to directors remuneration and the ordinary shareholders are outvoted by the board members.

Agree the ordinary share is undervalued and the preference share is a good deal, I think Grindrod also has good preference shares.

SB45 their preference shares can be confusing to some investors, like me. I just don't understand them. There's the normal share @34c, then there are the other Ecsponents (prefs) paying dividends etc, they are over 5 of them.

I have their class b shares, they are fixed for 5 year term and give 11.2% pa. Eg you but 10k in and after 5 years you take out 17k.

As for actual shares, this is the first time I'm buying shares with the hope of trading for a bit more profit.

Honestly, their fixed 11.2% 5 year option is one of the best return options I've seen out there.

RAM85 Thank you for clarifying the prefs for me, I really like that 11.2% pa. I won't lie the 11.2% pa on your pref looks really good, compound interest in there. Investors are ignoring the volatile ordinary shares for the guaranteed pref shares returns. Thanks Ram.

JK, I was just reading about this company over this weekend. Share price vs results not tying up unless I am missing something.

I've bought some shares at 30c. I also have a few of their 5 year fixed 11.2% investments. This is the fist time trying to buy some shares as I do think there is value (just volumes are very low).

Exactly, and if this was a big company flying above the radar, investors would have stormed:

  • Revenue from continuing operations up 45.1% from R321.8 million to R466.9 million
  • Operating profit from continuing operations up 89% from R218.2 million to R412.4 million
  • HEPS increased more than 100% to 6.991 cents per share
  • Further scalability and de-risking through new transactions worth an aggregate R1.2 billion

Further increasing its total assets by 84% from R1.2 billion to R2.2 billion.

What is up with this share.  Has great financial results, price is as cheap as chappies (actually I think chappies are more expensive).  Diversified and actually onto a good cause. any views?
