Last night I was watching the news, Mbeki was ranting about billions being 'taken' from Africa illegally. http://www.iol.co.za/news/africa/billions-taken-from-africa- illegally-mbeki-1.1237356

The above link refers BUT does not tell all. Mbeki said that our Platinum miners are in the habit of making customs declarations for Platinum exports showing those exports to be Tin !
Obviously implying that the platinum miners receive the full $1600+ payment from their overseas customers but only 'repatriate' the lowly Tin price value to ZA.
Of course this is impossible as the amount of ore exported is documented, plus there are auditors, shareholders etc.

This is cheeky racist stuff and I wish Cynthia Caroll or somebody else in the mining sector will show some backbone and comment.

(One brick short of a wall scenario - disgusting).

Hope someone (mining CEO) will refute this accusation.

I can't see why this is "Racist". Mbeki could be correct. Don't jump the gun. We have seen many cases of rot in big Co's like TIG.

Just because Mbeki is a racist doesn't mean that he is wrong! And he's in a unique position to criticise the raping of Africa's mineral wealth -- anyone in Mbuji-mai, DRC will gladly point out 'Mbeki's' diamond mine....

Yep, I totally agree with you. I'm sure alot of people would have branded as racist anyone who dared accuse one of our very own 'South African' companies with charging us inflated bread prices.

Been tarred with the racist brush so often it's a natural reaction.
(Remember some of those ANC Today Mbeki blogs ?)
