Yup! But they must be reasonable quality.

I have Kio,Cml,Vod,mml

Cool Cool Cool

Add AVI to that. The PE should be 14 not 18 as stated. Good defensive stock in this type of climate.
It will be a hedge if the others fall.

Orca,

I totally agree, and have been trying to buy AVI the past ten days - but the price has moved nearly 10% - must now wait for a pullback! last 3 yrs has moved sideways or down til June. Will watch for an opportunity.

Still beating myself up for dumping AVI at measly 12% profit last year. It went up 66% since I bought it.

And to think I sold this share last week to buy a big chunk of SOL futures. The good results today dropped SOL -1%???
Now I have to marry it.
Once in a while AVI gives a short lived dip that you have to watch for to get in.

The last time BIL was at a PE ratio of 7, the neanderthal man bought some. I think I will follow his guidance.

Nosh KIO is an extra ordinary share..Alyhough demand may fall from China they said they will ramp up production because at moment in their case demand exceeds supply.. ie all there ore mined is being sold because of their quality. So even ifore prices fall they will compensate that be increasing sales.

Having said that, the market is hitting down all iron ore companies. So i will wait for the right time to get in. I see more downside in short term. You could nibble on some at R500.00 and then more at around R480.00 where it had good support!!

Demand from china isn't falling its still going to grow at 100 million tonnes for the year.

The rate at which demand is growing is falling though.

But hey, if you buy 500 million tonnes this year (after growing 10% last year) and you say you'll only grow demand by 7% this year it can't be that bad right?
