Interesting, didn't know that this type of trading is so widespread and controversial. Anybody here involved in this type of trading?

Younginvestor,

Sorry for the stupid question, still trying to learn the basics.

Why do you say you want to short is?

From what I understood if you go short as per the definition below you would have bought too little at a low price?

or, Sold more than you bought at the higher price.

Definition:
The result of a trader having sold more than he has bought in any particular market/commodity/instrument/contract.

Because you have already sold your shares at the lower price from how I understood you would have now had to have gone long to try and buy a the lower price and then sell again at the higher in order for you to get revenge?

Please correct me where I am going wrong!

Thanx

13h45 our time ...

keltan this can be a very volatile time, what currency you would trade and long or short, or is it depending on the outcome.

Hi Duderoo - I generally stay out of the market until the volatility settles down and some sort of trend returns ... with NFP today (yes, its the first Friday of the month again) and a US holiday on Monday, it may be a good idea to take a long weekend ...

i agree with keltan. whenever really important news come out (red flag on most calendars), affecting a currency, i also get out at least 1 hour before and dont enter very soon after the release. Fridays and mondays are slightly slower days anyway, tuseday to thursday have slightly better trends in general. NFP results is probably the biggest mover of the month and can go in any direction. I know some traders, trade off news but the risks are massive

But the gains can be good, if you get the direction right.

What currency would be good to trade during the NFP, and any predictions on a sell or a buy?

If you look back this forum has been pretty good in
* Providing some extra insights into these shares before they hit trouble
* Giving some potential warning signs that the companies or sectors can pop.

Well done forum. Even if our opinions were wrong it showed the climate.

Copy paste shares, then mark 2 shares RED you do not like and 1 blue that you like (long term). Lets see who survives.
