Vodacoms holding company is Vodaphone UK!! One of the most cash flush UK companys around..

 

Vodacoms second biggest shareholder is the SA govt!!

 

Vodaphone is trying to buy out the minoritys in Vodacom and the SA Govt has said they will sell their stake at a price!!

 

Rumours have been going around for last 6 weeks!!  So imo vod is climbing on the rumour!!  and in all likelyhood with the eskom fiasco, vodaphone will get thier buyout!!!

 

Price could be in region of R180/R200

As a trader who knows the market and the market rumours, you shud have been long VOD 6 weeks ago!!!

Okay - let us look at VOD.

It has done > 20% in about 3 weeks.  The standard deviation on VOD has only exceeded these levels 4 times in history. Stocks are mean reverting (although it can stay overbought/oversold for a very long time). Look at the volume for the past 2 trading days - also quite high compared to the average. Signals to me that there has been a fairly large about of short covering taking place and that it might be a some sort of capitulation.  Not saying it will drop like a stone but it has to revert at some point.  Where it might be I don't know.

Well, I am getting ready to join all of you on the VOD short train. Staggering in from R153.

order APN(long) 37000(hoping for a weak flush 37200 level)

Support and 200MA is at R370 and so is the H&S neckline. If that level doesn't hold it might go down to 333ish

my $ is on "a squeeze"...agree with AJ...price should fall @least lower 14000

Don't think it is to far off.  Will most likely go and retest R140 in the nearby future... Plenty of shorts got caught off guard with this run.

Standard deviation is off the charts. Has to consolidate at some stage. But you can get killed easily if you are over exposed in such a run/short squeeze.

I am closing my VOD short tomorrow if nothing happens today. Resilient #$%^

..extremely expensive retailer relatively speaking but trading price action between 25000-28000. entry point--good price currently(just pace yourself (re: pos sizing, cant see anyone losing money trading above range)
