gd morning Gspot. Thanks for the info. On 24th, 26th and 27th March Aspen also had 'intra-day lows of 36402 (closed 37588), 36851(closed 37176) and 37061 (closed 37820) respectively. Will see more clearly at the end of the day but agree it is looking ominous.....relentless selling downwards.

Aspen broken below its long term 200day MA at R371............my next target is a bit extreme (but possible) of R355! Will nibble now at R367 (with a 1/3 Delta positioning strategy)....
MDC target to enter R121.
DSY target to enter R129-R131

Went short at 9803 yesterday, holding on - it may see some further bearish sentiment today with the trading update. TP 8800 if sentiment continues, stop 10000.
Closed 8969, have to do something to hang on to APN - . Its great when something works!

I'm wondering if I want to short CML a little this morning or just let her be

Morning Everyone,
GFI has ticked all the boxes yesterday to start a strong bull run. Gold has also broken back through $1200 / ounce
Usually when Gold goes up the Market corrects. Lets hope the VOD shorts are coming off today.
, but VOD and ALSI is still in up trend.
I got into GFI @ R54-00 yesterday and hoping for a 2 week run.
Defensive stocks are falling out of favour, (APN turned bearish) and riskier stocks turning bulish.
keep an eye on the US GDP print later today and more importantly the FOMC a couple of hours after - weak print and dovish FOMC your GFI should rally, but should there be a strong print and/or hawkish statement gold could come under pressure, together with the rest of the market.

Yeah, bit of pain ahead. Still, it was a matter of time and not unexpected.
Now the question is, will earnings continue lower or stabilise.
They need to cut opex and reduce bonuses.
With Resource sector bouncing again I think their earnings will stabilize at the least with all that exposure to resources. Might even be a good time to get in for the long term, depending how far the price falls
At the very least, this saves me a trip to the casino!

HDB, with this info and the forward momentum on this share, do you think it is too late to go long on VOD?

ok for what my drivel is worth...
Vodacoms holding company is Vodaphone UK!! One of the most cash flush UK companys around..
Vodacoms second biggest shareholder is the SA govt!!
Vodaphone is trying to buy out the minoritys in Vodacom and the SA Govt has said they will sell their stake at a price!!
Rumours have been going around for last 6 weeks!! So imo vod is climbing on the rumour!! and in all likelyhood with the eskom fiasco, vodaphone will get thier buyout!!!
Price could be in region of R180/R200
Agree - if you try to make this the short of a lifetime it prob won't work. But from a pure "scalping" "mean reversion" point of view I believe there might be merit in shorting it off the extremes?
