Hope Zuma will be nice to us for a change!!!!

However if he isn't ...

The ZAR will weaken  I presume....

I know its complicated BUT from experience...

Wonder how it will affect the TOP 40....

Where is the best place to trade the rand? Where I am at the moment takes to long to transact and is frustrating

Retail traders have no business trading forex. You WILL lose everything. Having said that, have you tried IG? They're an excellent broker IMO.

Now its way back/ stronger...

Why so volatile???

Welcome to the world of forex. These sorts of moves are normal - hence the danger of playing in this market. Throw in the politics of Zuma and Trump and you're playing with fire.

With proposed mining charter our miners under the threat of having to  give away another 20%  TO THE STATE !!!!!!

(after giving 26% for BEE)...

This is going to be bad for investors....

Where or when will it ever end????

This leeching off "monopoly" capital shows the greed and gluttony of this so-called government. They won't be happy until they've sucked every cent out of business. The scum Zuma will press hard for "economic transformation" this year. A smokescreen to take over Treasury. He needs to do it before December so that his nuclear deal can go ahead. He won't give up, his greed is insatiable. Expect a very difficult year. He'll either succeed in destroying the country or we'll finally be rid of him.

Do you ever close your shorts? Seems like you have been short for a whole year now without opening and closing new positions?

Interesting strategy if so.

No. Been short the whole of 2016 until now. My primary position follows what I believe is the medium term trend - we've been in a bear since Nov 15.  I have another account that I use for short term swings. My primary position can shrink and grow but stays on the side of the trend while my secondary account can be long or short at any given time.

I am not sure that a weaker USD is good for bears...

The weak Rand has pushed the market up over the last few years. I assume a stronger Rand will have the reverse effect unless I'm missing something.
