sibanye - all sa assets/mines besides south deep

gfi - all overseas assets/mines plus south deep

So that means trade Sibanye short term and between stikes, and buy GFI long term waiting for the overseas mines to be fully developed and come on line.

think you may be wrong there vader ... as far as all the reports I read/heard ... sibanye has only 2 old the mines ... the ones that had the strikes ...
while GFI holds onto everything else .... and do not forget that GFI has some large holdings in other countries

IMHO, I think tha the prospect for Sibanye are far better than for GFI.
GFI is basically just South Deep now - VERY VERY deep level mining at a much higher input cost per ounce.
I think Sibanya has Libanon, West Wits, Kloof, Beatrix, etc which are all much older established mines with lower input costs per ounce.
Me personally, I am staying away from both until the (gold) dust settles.
Anyone have some other useful info other than gutt feel in this regard?

going to wait a while and see what happens on GFI price. seems like a good deal even at current prices(tempted), but might shed a few more rands R85< before turnaround.

I plan on holding on, as I see decent future value for both shares. Sibanye has to prove itself, or at least the ceo does, so he will be trying very hard in the first few years and we should see good divi and price should go up.
GFI, should also start to look good, as the RSA risk factors have been removed

Jennifer0808, if you still held the shares up to this morning, then yes you will be getting 1 sibanye share for every GFI share you held/hold

Thats what I read as well ... so for the current price of GFI you get 1 GFI and 1 sibanye share ... which seems like a good deal .. provided sibanye can produce and from what I heard on the radio about the new methods being implemented for deep gold mining, I cannot see why it would not do well

Did not see a thread for goldfields, so thought I would create one.

With the unbundling, do you think its a good buy??
I always think these types of unbundlings are a good deal Smile
you get a 2 for 1 deal ... but I know its more complicated ... but for some reason I just cannot resist Twisted Evil

what are your thoughts??
worth it??

They way I had it was that for every 1 Goldfields share you have, you will receive 1 Sibanye Gold share?
