got a call from these guys today http://www.marketoptions.com/(completely out of the blue, apparently they get contact details through investing.com when you register) anyways, discussion revolved around binary option trading...anyone hear of them or are their better alternatives available
CFD returns..made a fortune, lost a fortune, been in hole "deep" and currently on the money but only due to a recent change/tweak in my approach

Yeah, I'm going to give it another year or two - see how it goes. I want to consistently earn >50% py after tax on CFD's.
I'm also considering trading FX in a foreign account, like FXCM or so.
Having the account in USD will help as the Rand is clearly going to sh*t. Also, I don't think I would need to declare tax on profits...as long as I don't withdraw any cash out of the account.
Anybody trade FX here?
yes I trade FX using FXCM. I trade/have traded almost everything and actually started off on FX. To be honest, I find it the most unpredictable and hardest to consistently make money on. But is may just not be suited to my style of trading so best you try yourself.

I am also trading CFDs for almost a year now. Initially did quite well, then it took a turn for the worse. Then I ran some simulations on past JSE data and altered my strat. Doing better now but still making a slight loss to date. It's been a massive learning curve.
just my 2c, but aiming for +50% after tax is heavy. it could make you enter trades you would not normally go for - however it is not impossible
I find trading like body surfing, catch the right one and you will make it all the way to the beach.

Yep, hardly worth the time if you doing over 30% on long term portfolio.

Ja I'm also very interested to hear from everyone whether it's worth it. How much percentage did you end up with after tax?
34.8% after tax...so yeah not too impressed.

Hey Gents
So, 2013 was my first year of trading CFD's and I ended up with 52% return overall. Take off tax and it feels demotivating compared to my long term portfolio on which I made about 30%. So yeah, I reckon it wasn't worth the time and a few sleepless nights .
Anyway, I will give this another year - target of at least 75% return.
How did you guys do this year and do you find this worth the time and effort?
Consider it petty cash for weekend spending or Zol money!

my fav instrument trading short/long - SGL giving easy money..again!! ...sold another chunk off at 1296
Well played - I'm still holding AGL, SL upped to 125.
Hopeful to ride this one a bit longer
SL on DSY also upped to 84...starting to pay off nicely.
Tomorrow, I will be adding some shorts - have a keen eye on VOD and APN.
