ha delta..you beat me too it...and absolutely correct...pivots breaks are oftentimes anomalous..or fake...hence my message is to watch for longer time frames to permit faith in pivots breaks...i seldom simply just trade long or short at pivot break ....there must be backtesting....'conviction'...otherwise those at the pivots are just 'convicts'. so far so good...just be ready to swing.

closed all shorts with a nibble long 44 753...switzerland and UK asking for a small rally...three gaps above....some relief...hope for a gap close at least 45100..at most 45400...expecct much chop around 45000...like most of the day,,but although 45400 highly unlikely... i'll take it happily

High-Flying Gannet....there are pricks around indeed...but the loudest ones seem to know nothing of the expertise needed to be trading...its obvious they are impostors...they are here for ego reasons...because they are insignificant out of incognito. ....ignore them..keep posting your good stuff and one day these individuals will walk away from their egos, because egos are exhausting and difficult to maintain. skills are easy to maintain... once one has them thankfully one has no need for one's ego. then all others are saved by this vindication...I hope...good luck to all

hahaha excellent question B...and a pertinent one...obfuscation without obviation...mate believe it or not...I personally use both...what I mean is I try to fit the Fib retracement into an apparent intermediate high to low section and look for the most congested middle section...i.e. that middle section that would illustrate the most activity and as such be probably be the 50% FIB area....see then how well the 61%fits and the 38% fits....voila.... if that means using the shadow do so...if it means only using the tip of the candle body..then do so....same with channels...find the best straight line between at least 3 points...most good channels form for the experienced early worm turn trader...on 2 points...at, wait for it...a 23degrees slope...Mn Gannet..wink wink...there I said it...but 3 point to be more accurate will suffice. voila. good night..good luck

B - your question about wicks. If I draw fib on a long wick on the hourly chart ... I look at the 2 or 4 min to see how relevant that wick might be. If it's a "stand alone spike" I will rarely use the full length of it. One mindless trade might have created that spike. Would you have your carefully plotted fib levels compromised by a single mindless trade? The is no rule to say you have to use the extreme. Let common sense guide you to the point that is likely to be the most accurate.

Mr GreenBeret...there's much credence to Elliot waves ...its just the protagonists of it around these parts know very little about it. One cant keep re-counting the counts indefinitely. What d'you think. Of course markets go in up and down waves. Its just the ship's captains are all at sea over them.

 

The only way of catching the big wave is to count the waves.

Vertebrae, you can throw in Elliot. I appreciate Elliot waves, just that i can't see the waves clearly but when you post them i always ask myself, why couldn't i see that?

that Dow is strong relative...all markets are down 3,effing plenty % and dow barely sweating 2% down...one can never get an American to admit anything negative... as far as the Yanks are concerned their market is up 1%, if all markets are down 3,plenty and theirs down 2. amazing...land of the free [dollars] and of the 'knave'.
