Avenida Group wants to double in size by 2027

 

With seven years of delay. the Avenida Group. one of the leaders of popular clothing retail in the Midwest and North regions. managed last month to meet the goal it outlined for 2015: reaching annual revenues of R$ 1 billion. Bought in February by the giant retailer of clothing for lower income classes. the South African Pepkor. for about R$ 1.1 billion. the company plans strong expansion. The plan is to reach 300 shops by 2027. I hope that the next billion will come faster, not only because of the new shops, but also because of the sales growth of the existing shops," says Rodrigo Caseli, president of the company. He is the son of Aílton Caseli. who founded the retailer in 1978. in Cuiabá. After the entrance of Pepkor. the family got 13% of the business. Related News The delay in reaching the first billion target occurred because of a combination of several factors. Internally. there was difficulty in finding a partner. which only came in 2012 with the entry of Kinea. fund that left the business in February this year. selling its stake to Pepkor. Among the external factors, the executive recalls the slower pace of the economy in 2015 and 2016 and the pandemic. "Now it has taken off". says Caseli. which projects for the year 2022 sales above R$ 1.1 billion. Smaller shops The Avenida Group started studies for a new shop model, smaller and cheaper than the current one. Caseli also points out that Pepkor is a real shop-opening machine and opens up to two shops a day.
