Because they want to be up and running before Black Friday on 23rd Nov.
Statement on the 16th Nov:
The retailer expects to emerge from bankruptcy "in the coming days," according to a company press release, with a lighter footprint — down to 2,600 locations after closing approximately 700 in bankruptcy.
"
Chapter 11 plan of its subsidiary Mattress
Firm, Inc. (together with its U.S. affiliates, “Mattress Firm”) was approved by the US
Bankruptcy Court on 16 November 2018, and Mattress Firm is expecting to exit from the
Chapter 11 proceedings following satisfaction of the conditions precedent to the
effectiveness of the Chapter 11 plan.

On the other hand, yesterday's financial restructuring focused on important intermediate steps of Steinhoff International. US subsidiary Mattress Firm, which is undergoing Chapter 11 litigation, has been cleared by the relevant US bankruptcy court. Steinhoff International itself yesterday presented plans to reorganize the billion dollar debts of European business. Among other things, one plans to convert billions of convertible bonds into ordinary loans, which would eliminate both the possibility of conversion and high dilution risks. The creditors still have to agree to the plans. So it will be interesting in the coming weeks.
What people are not seeing is that by converting bonds to loans the restructure will allow SNH to pay the loans with equity of PEPCO Europe, Greenlit Brands and Conforama. So the vision I had is slowly happening. Will buy lots more of green beer!!!
