Hi,

Any ideas why this is dropping so much other than directors changing and possibility of ban on vapour cigs? Ive bought more today...still looks like a good price to me. Good dividends too

Ask yourself why you bought in initially...? Then you added more as per above.

It's much cheaper now...So what's changed...?

When support @ R439ish went earlier today & with volume it's confirming that we're on the next leg down...previously R465ish was broken to weed out the weak shorts & now the smart money is shorting again...My 2c

I bought for divi's so not worried about price too much...recently read an article with figures to back it up that they still generating lots of free cash flow so dividends are not at risk according to that analyst....

Maybe my age is differs to yours (I is looking for steady income from my investments) so my reasons for buying are also different.

If you're concerned sell & move on.. ;)

My advice still stands don't buy more yet....!

Morning...

I think with the tepid response to beverage companies climbing into the dope scene they tend to be associated on an informed basis ie we know the risks & we're being adult about it. However for a cigarette company it's different cigarettes do kill you it's a legal requirement that must be printed on the packaging....bit of an uneven playing field in some respects...smoking while driving is not a criminal offence however drink driving gets loads of attention yet still loads of people do it. So I'm of the view big cigarette co's surely must have discussed it at board level & hey it'll only take one of the big guys to buyout a "respectable" dope co. then the gates are open should the response be similar.

But yeah fully agree it would be diversification/growth industry & with their huge capital & already huge tax contributions in the jurisdictions where they operate could be a game changer.

Cheers.

P.S.

Sorry to hear of your friend Snippet.

True re board...but selling cigarettes they must be less uptight than beverage companies like coke considering it..end day however self righteous most companies act they in it for balance sheets...and if its legal its legal even if its not a person's personal preference

Eventually I beat the addiction before it killed me but not before my good friend was taken by the effects of the addiction. No doubt my dependence will cost me many years of life. But why should any investor give a fig? The market is not for *******, its for money and if human traffic in underage girls for sex could be listed that would also be oversubscribed.

Sick planet. Described in scriptures.

The ban is to stop youngsters starting smoking as menthol is seen as a gateway to cigarette addiction hence they asking for a complete ban.

Not sure if the board or ethical shareholders (read pension funds) would approve of a move into pot of any description for many a moon to come.

Far too soon for that.

Hi...i dont think potential ban will be sorted out but i think it will take years to legally prove unhealthy and ban...they should tie up with marijuana somehow and it will rise...thats what im expecting them to do in long run

Possible sanctions against them in U.S. on their menthol cigarette products.

Don't buy more yet IMO.

Their menthol range in the U.S accounts for +\- 25% of profits.

The above potential ban is the reason for the continued drop....

Until this has some degree  of clarity price will continue to drop.

Market hates uncertainty.

R465 was minor support for a while. Today was breached to hit the weak shorts stop loss but since then heavy drop to where we are now & even this is not the bottom...!

Its going up at moment...as polly says when other shares go down everyone starts smokin and drinkin :)... no im not too worried re this one bought more yesterday that article sees big increases long term...but id sell before any court issues re menthol but think years..needs be proven..if bti gets involved re marijuana which they should could be a big coup
