Hi A, so much for my plan of reaching close to 41000 T40F's today/Monday !

you seem to expect the expected pull back come Monday, presume we saw some profit taking in the markets today already.

what is a realistic target on T40futures for this 'temporary' pullback -

If you look at the charts I expect her to go and touch around 39600ish J200 (also the daily 21), so about 550 points down!

Then all longs away!

A

Picked up a short late afternoon.....got sucked in during the last little dip....was concerned about the after hour potential rise..kept short open.....would like to see the dip on Monday....will keep open and ditch if things deteriorate

The best brokers with low spreads are Oanda and Hotforex.

You can even trade indices there like FTSE,S&P,DAX,DOW,NASDAQ

Thanks Sunesis, appreciated!

If there are still any Bears left out there, this week is historically the worst in October

Howzit guys

I want to ask this question here, since there are a few people that trade the ALSI that might be able to help with this:

Where (who/platform/how) is the best place to start trading things like gold, oil, currencies etc. ?  Is it that easy like opening a IG account and start trading things like copper futures for instance?  I want to learn more about trading commodities like gold, copper, oil and maybe a few currency pairs as well.  Don't want to through big money at it since I want to learn and find my feet first.

So if anyone (Sunesis, I know you mentioned a few times that you do trade these things) has any recommendations I will appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Could somebody please explain to me the difference betwee the South Africa 40 Cash and the JSE Top 40 index? Reports today on sharenet.co.za, Bloomberg and Reuters (availbale on IG) say the JSE Top 40 reached 40 066 earlier yet the charts on IG Markets do not show the South Africa 40 Cash reaching above 40 000 at any point today. What am I missing?

That's because it is a derivative of a JSE Top 40 futures contract. It is not exactly a replica of the top 40 spot.

IG's website explains:

Our South Africa 40 Stock Index is a special form of CFD that gives a client exposure to changes in the value of the stock index but cannot result in the delivery of any share or instrument by or to the client.

1. Our in-hours South Africa 40 cash index price is derived from the underlying near-dated ALSI futures contract adjusted by removing its fair value calculation. Fair value is the natural premium at which the futures market tends to trade which reflects interest advantage and disadvantage of forgone dividends. For in-hours trading, the price spread is fixed, provided that the underlying market spread remains within a predetermined parameter. Alternatively, should the underlying market spread widen, our price will become the market spread with 4 points added to either side of the spread.  As the fair value calculation is removed from the underlying futures to derive our price, the index will therefore be subject to overnight financing at a set rate linked to SABOR and will be subject to dividend adjustments.

The out-of-hours South Africa 40 cash index price is derived by anticipating the underlying near-dated AlSI futures contract next opening price relative to international market and currency movements.

Do not try and bend the market. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see, that it is not the market that bends, it is only yourself.

What usaully happens if we get a good NFP number on the ALSI.

I am not sure how it reacts since i've never traded it during NFP. I know the how the FTSE and NASDAQ react.

I see NFP is next week tuesday

Do you think S&P will close up or down today?

Todays close does not matter. What matters is that S&P will reach 1750 before a deep pullbak

The Dow is not coming to play.

Today's weakness is also due to Home Depot and United Health Care they dragging the Dow down. But i don't think it will correct before a new high. It might not come today, but it will come before a pullback

This bullrun is for real. Pullback will be minimal

I'm enjoying the long trade on NASDAQ and Euro50 though. I will close soon.

For those who trade forex, I just took a long trade on USD/JPY

Do you think S&P will close up or down today?
