Can't imagine SHP announcing that they will be spending 40% of their market cap on one overseas acquistion...this Woolies deal was like a thunder bolt out of thin air hence the reaction

Good trade I think. The pessimists will jump ship quickly and then you'll see the long term buyers come in and push the stock up.

look guys, (shp)higher highs/lower lows for the last few sessions..weekly trend..up!  but would feel fairly comfortable shorting from 170+-(small pos, in case need to add) view medium term.

Wasn't insinuating anything, merely showing the chart. 

 

*edit* --> The change in WHL is purely because of corporate action which wasn't observable on a chart. If all else remained the same WHL might have continued up.

I have been eying JDG. But worried about the rights offer and possible forced buyout. Does anyone have an opinion.

...what is your investment case...as SHF already owns 88% (and their offer to minorities closed on 4 Apr) plus it seems rights issue won't be at massive discount. So not really sure why you would want to commit new capital at this stage? Your max upside is around 5% should SHF decides to take out the last 12% at the original ratio. You don't know if and when they will do so...sure you can do better with your money somewhere else?
