Same here lost 90% of my profits.  SOL looks fairly unaffected by what's going on. Should i sell some of my retailers and get some SOL?

IMO it depends on how heavy you are in retailers - I guess having more than 20% in any one sector is bad and being balanced between a few sectors is probably quite important. SOL and BHP are the picks in the resource sector for me - mainly for the rand hedge and not being too reliant on SA labour.

Portfolio has taken massive hiding - lost 3/4 of the profits made last year besides dividends. Oh well, dividend "season" is coming up - hopefully that will put a smile on my face.

What is up with PNC? It has been taking a serious beating this past week? I know the R/$ has an influence, surely this has got something to do with foreign funds leaving our market??

The profits MTA has been making was mostly from after market auto spares and miners cap lamp batteries. Their R2.7B factory acquisition in Turkey for their stop/start batteries has come on line this month. The profits from that will add humungesly to their growth. You do know that the green battery will become compulsory in many countries soon.
The only hurdle is the loan from ABSA for the acquisition.

It's the start/stop batteries that made me notice MTA :) Was under the assumption the start/stop battery portion will only REALLY kick in in mass in around 3 years time in the form of Europe and was making my assumptions on that. A quicker uptake will probably make more sense. Never the less, will be holding a while and adding when possible. Quick wins are always fun

She's just following the market. Hold on. GLD will go up a bit this week only and MTA will double this year.

Orca - not to question your statement specifically (I hope it's right as I want to be a shareholder of MTA soon as well), but why would you say MTA will double this year? I'm expecting strikes will slow them down a little for at least this year. Slower start might actually work out better for me as I will be adding to it through this year and not in one lump sum  :)

According to HotStoxx, PNC is hot. In a good growth sector and is the best stock within that sector.
Am holding both for long term. MTA is my gem though.

Thanks Orca. They do look like good options for the long term.

Still hold both. PNC is being hammered by the ZAR but will keep it. CML is holding strangly and not following the market today. Still in demand but she has had her good run.

Thanks Orca, I have recently added CML, and I'm buying into the dip on PNC. are these still shares that you will hold/accumulate in the next 12 months?

Orca - Are you still holding CML and PNC? What is your view in the next 12 months?
