BBW CML is a proxy for the market!!

What on earth makes you say that? CML has never followed the market. Perhaps only during the crash but it had to follow.

I have been watching CML like a hawk for some years and it NEVER follows the trend. Look at today as one single instance. Markets tanked but CML did not notice this as always.

If you had read my old thread on CML you would have realized this. There is asolutely no other stock as resiliant as this on the JSE. If you can find one, please share. I cannot find any other.

Orca is your investment in CML done thru common stocks, CFD's or both?

Common stocks. 70% of my pension money and I intend to re-retire this year. I have a SAFEX account that has been dormant for some months so I will try SSF's with CML for extra bucks and "entertainment".

Thanks for that Orca. From the looks of your chart, looks like I'll have to put in my order a little higher, but that's Monday's worries. Now off for a lekker weekend away; all stops and limits in place...

HDB. Could you post that chart you mentioned here? I don't have ALSI in my charts.

Copied from my brokerage website:

RISK

Market

The share price and earnings will clearly take a hit, albeit mitigated to some extent by the variable cost model, in any major downturn.

Underperformance

Underperformance by peers occurs frequently and it is still a given that an asset manager, who comes from nowhere to top of the log, is likely to head for the bottom soon afterwards. Coronation has however managed to maintain above-average performance consistently over time and, while this by no means eliminates the risk, it is thereby mitigated.

Comment

In a world desperate for yield it is difficult to argue against the attractions of Coronation. Given the likelihood that FY 13 growth will at least be sufficient to ensure that last year' s 206cps gross dividend is net, the forward dividend yield is likely to be at least 5.1%.

She should drop back to the SMA.

BBW CML is a proxy for the market!!

When the market crashed it went down to R10.00 and as the markets went up so did she!!

Pull out a chart of the alsi and cml combined and check for yourself!!

Ps..BBW i think you getting a bit emotional with CML so if you trading in CFDS be carefull, very carefull!!

Thanks for the advice HDB. I guess you're right; getting more and more upset with my-stop out as I see it go up. Got an order in at 4700 and think I'll keep it there for now, at least until after the weekend. Thinking of closing out all my other CFD holdings today as well; those (most, even my long-term holdings/investments) that are in the money. Except MND and CPI, which I'll keep for the dividend.

Orca, don't want to put you on the spot, but, from your EXPERIENCE, would you say CML's broken R50 convincingly and firmly and will stay on the up side of 5000, even if markets retract?

Uuuggh!! A low blow! Could have been better off by at least R50k, was I not stopped out...

Don't worry... I bought 8000 CFR at 48 in June 2012 and got stopped out with my tight R2 stop loss while I was away on holiday... Well, it still haunts me :) The "what-if" "if-only" game, haha, gotta love it!   :D

Ja, see u know noting, noting about investing ....

CML never ceases to amaze me. I was expecting R50 in two months time. How this stock falls and recovers to new highs in no time beats me.

It is now at a phsycological 5000 resistance level where sellers are teeming up to sell. Will see tomorrow.
