Growth Results of our year-long #GrindstoneXL Accelerator Programme out later today... And they are good! Well done to the 10 scale-up co's!

Do any one know how the results of the grindstone projects maybe can affect the knife capital profits, if at all.

I still believe in the companies future, hope I am not wrong.

If we can just figure out what the revenue generating capabilities of knife can be.

Are desperate for some news..... :(

This one comes with quite a bit of baggage and to turn this around is going to take a bit of time. the question is how much longer with this new management team are you willing to wait?

This is the proverbial mushroom treatment....keep us in the dark and feed us s.... It is now obvious that Elite (unsecured lending) is not going to go away. If one looks at the Afdawn Board only Me Vanya Lessing has any hands-on business management experience? Now that Stoop and Turner left (resigned) the new Elite Board has no experience either...who is next to go? PSG is the DA and must also be advising on other stuff, I wonder how they reconcile all this?

Todays SENS message that there have been changes to the Social Ethics Committee sounds like they are feeding the shareholders with popcorn.

The announcement that Stoop and Turner resigned from Elite I just as cagey as what we need to know is,are they doing profitable business or doing an ABIL?

The only good news to draw from it is that someone at afdawn is actually ALIVE!!!

When will they come clean and tell us what is going on............

Big things happening at Elite. I wonder if one should expect some sort of indication or SENS cautionary if there is serious investigations at the main subsidiary?

Interesting...I had exactly the same thought when I read the sens about the financial advisor change. But that's just a thought...

I have read Jannie Mouton's book (Toe fire hulle my...) a year or what back and if I remember correctly, he mentioned AFDAWN specifically as a "not so good company"...

Be that as it may, this remains gripping stuff... :D

Would not read anything into it. PSG has been advising Afdawn for quite a while. This sense is just a formal consequence

Fleetstroke that may be something; but I think JM is too clever to pick up a shell (with problems)and overpay for it...

From the Elite website re the team... "To support the impressive quantum leap in the company during the past few years, Elite Group (Pty)Ltd established a dynamic management team to lead and support the company into one major force in the credit provision industry.

The current management and board of Elite Group (Pty) Ltd consist of individuals who have all made their mark in business. They are all multi skilled professionals, supported by a team of highly qualified individuals."

I wonder if this means that the 'dynamic management team' is out and individuals without knowledge of the industr is now running the business with support from highly qualified individuals - rather say it as it is!

I must say the more I look at this the more I get confused....KC is a fund manager, right? Afdawn is a 'wanna be' investment holding company as per their vision statement, right? A Rights Issue was done to fund Afdawn's vision, right? On the KC website there is a description and photos of their (KC) investment committee; are these the same people making up the 'newly announced' Afdawn investment company? Possible conflict in funding allocation ....seems to be a dragon with two heads.

Is there a structure in place to manage the old assets? Are they going to write that off - Elite included? I see they have changed their Designated Advisors.

It seems like a lot of changes, actions with no plan behind it.

Tough one to understand, but I still believe KC wouldn't have entered into such a deal without a proper plan for the business...and putting their reputation on the line...

I phoned Elite and later Mac vd Merwe to try and find out if there are any information that may be of value to shareholders as the Board and management is really not playing ball keeping shareholders in the dark. As there is no cautionary out we can assume that there is nothing forthcoming on the investment horizon. Looking back at the first Rights Offer one must wonder how that money was applied and what is happening now.

vd Merwe said he was very much committed to Afdawn but that his own family business is more in line to what he anticipated Afdawn would become? Between the lines ons can feel that another party was really the KC transaction champion. He is still a large shareholder in Afdawn and will lose money on this excursion.

One must also understand that KC is only managing the portfolio of HBD for a (small) fee. Moyo, one of the HBD investments went belly up and one can only imagine what what impact this will have on the fee structure. It is now 10 months from the talks between Afdawn and KC first surfaced; surely the idea must have been for a fast track of investments from this relationship?

I am not sure if there is a new office in the Cape or are they using the KC office and who is looking after the Elite office? What is happening with the industry experts that grew Elite and developed all the IP and business connections.

I also see that there is mentioned of a pending SARS settlement, what is the status and implication there?

Read through the annual and other public statements and things are more muddy than one can imagine.

To sum it up:

Mac van der Merwe who has been pushing the change of AFDAWNs vision and acquiring KC leaves the board after the "pump and dump" with an conflict of interest to his personal business?

Two weeks later the Elite Group disposal that has been carefully planned falls through.

This leaves the shareholders with two (un)disposible assets: approx R60 mil, three new acquired companies in form of KC (EDH, OrderTalk, SACAB) with no more turnover than R30 mil (and no profit yet) and Shareholders funds: approx R40 mil.

Issued shares approx 780 million (including the 100 million shares issued to acquire KC?)

Current Market Value of R60 mil.

Back to square one.

Lets face facts:

1   Afdawn tried to sell Elite for R35m but failed. The microlending business is not what the old KC business want to do.It appears that they are running the loans till they terminate. This implies a badly run business.(tie in with missing management etc).It implies a loss of money.

2   On the other hand Afdawn in Cape Town seem fit and ready to fulfil their vision. What we don't know is how much the Elite situation is hurting afdawn. They are really being quiet on how the CT business is going. For all we know, great things could be happening and an announcement is due shortly, or...............the opposite

3   Important to note is,how are they spending the rights issue money and why are the directors and mvdm still sitting on shares which become less valuable on a daily basis.

4   It seems impossible that the likes  of old KC directors(with impeccable cvs) can aquire afdawn and run it into the ground so quickly. What will their cvs look like then?

He said he thinks the most senior management; Eddie Stoop and Andy Turner has been suspended - maybe for a good reason!!! It seems like a boat without a Captain, no one of the other AFDAWN Directors have knowledge of the operations. In the Elite website they talk about industry leaders but I can't see any mention of the Elite Board or who the senior management now are.

Sorry for duplication.

Elite Group is apparently still in the stable? Senior and key management is not available (on leave) and caretaker manager left office early - today? I wonder what is happening, a reason for the share price to tumble, shouldn't the shareholders be informed if things are going South....

A friend is working in the same office park and there are rumours, I hope that this is not a Noseweek story.
