For me high debt is not a good thing. With the present interest rates MF is to pay 5.5% so what happens when the Fed pushes up by another 3 %? That would make MF pay a high interest rate of 8.5% and on $1,250 bil is $106 mil per year!!

I was expecting a good trade update. The business are doing well for me that's great the bad news is how much of it they will sell to pay debt. Like I said before PEPCO is the golden goose if I could buy those shares in Poland I would never look again at SNH!!!

I am not saying high debt is a good thing in isolation. But it's basic economics that inflation reduces your debt in real terms (just like your cash) - so during inflationary periods there may be a silver lining on having high debt.

 

Btw the Fed rate hikes are still likely but not necessarily as steep as you make it out to be: https://www.cnbc.com...est-rates.html

Yeah you may be right. Though I wonder if they may have fewer IPOs 'to compete with' now. Surely there is still plenty of liquidity out there for a few successful IPOs (especially in the US where valuations are higher).

 

Also, carrying lots of debt during high inflation is not necessarily all bad

Yes I agree just now its the wrong time to do the IPO with all that debt. Due to rise in oil and gas prices the inflation is going to go much higher!!!

They late with the IPO, needed to IPO when the market was pumped.
