Steinhoff is a pure gamble. I wont touch it unless one of 2 things happens:
1. break above R20.00 long
2. break below R5.00 short
anything in between is for the mugs....pump and dump
Most are convinced this company will fold especially the major overseas banks
thats 40% gains in the short

the market seems to have been very shaken and missed some of the important contents of the 2014 emails- a particular email refers to balances needed to be cleaned up prior to listing; 2015 investigation on going but not yet closed.
a lot of the misdemeanour is pre- 2015.....
lots of buyers in the market for the shares at the current pricing. institutional investors and late end of day volumes sustained for the past two months indicating that there is still hope.
reinforced governance ----
challenge though is the uncertainty and hopefully we get some further information this month.
interestingly the leaked emails ...how is it that this was so easy to come by? could it have been leaked purposefully as the company is unable to disclose information due to the criminal proceedings likely to follow???? I think it was an acknowledgement from the company and a guide to the market that majority of the issues predates the listing.

absolutely fantastic news....revenue numbers 2% ahead, mattress firm is a problem and actions in place to remedy.
adjusted 5% under-
considering the Viceroy report with yesterdays information- we looking at a high road scenario from a revenue perspective.
lots of crap from 2014 and 2015 - may be pre-listing.
STAR growth and revenue can carry Steinhoff through this difficult period.
this is definitely a medium to long term buy with significant growth and dividend expectations from year 2019
short term risk always

eagerly awaiting the quarterly update ....which will even if poor give some resemblance of revenue

its rather interesting that after a month the PSA had not concluded much more from all the financial documents shared with them.
you would think that if they found something credible and had a strong case they would have already pushed hard for a settlement to get ahead of all the other opportunistic law firms....

next weeks trading update will be interesting- even if the numbers are not spectacular, the comparison to the previous year may give some reliability on the revenue assumptions indicating in some form if there is a massive revenue shortfall or if the irregularity relates to reporting requirements and disclosures

Market reaction positive to outcome of court case. perhaps already priced in? any thoughts?
I think a known negative is perceived to be better than an unknown outcome...

yesterdays Parli session was fantastic- I think strategic for Steinhoff to be able to communicate to the market on what it has been constrained.
so the following assumptions hold from my previous comments:
1. they legally constrained to inform the market- this is due to the nature of the fraud impacting internal and external- this is a massive investigation and Steinhoff is playing ball with the authorities
2. business is operationally sound and liquidity sorted- we knew this
3. CFO unimplicated thus far therefore the fraud related to nature of interactions and not necessarily a massive hole in the balance sheet.
4. may have been some enrichment but there are other issues at play
5. price sensitivity works both ways- down and up
6. Insider trading assumption is massive and not limited to Steinhoff- knowing the relationships this could impact Capitec trades in the past year and PSG trades- FSB net will have to be wider
7. Delloiite may be laible and some money for Steinhoff from Delloites potentially from malpractice insurance
8. February is going to be an exciting month- nice upside opportunity
Going forward
there will be fines , legal challenges etc but this is a company that will come out of this scenario for the better
1. clean with full disclosures
2 operationally integrated
3. financially integrated
I am a strong buy to hold for 3 years expecting an upside from R7 currently to R60 in 3 years
insider trading assumption also holds true.....

KAP results probably helped steady the ship yesterday - was expecting more panic from the false media - seems like every media house got the wise share sale story completely wrong - as if they were smoking a peace pipe.
in patiently waiting for further sens now on process timeliness and stability.
Fantastic movie in the making- or at least a case study for business school- on the entire journey

Could work well or be a disaster. Would not bet my retirement on it though. Wiese apparently sold 70% of his Steinhoff according to Bloomberg, I would ask why? Despite this saga, he is not stupid.
Be interesting to understand Wieses sale of the shares. It is likely to have been a forced sale related to either a loan or a governance requirement from the creditors to reduce his voting power.
He is barred from trading during this period with the PWC investigation and most of the directors would also be barred from further sales or purchases due to the risk of insider trading . The director trades in December have also been queried.
we should have a SENS later today
he cant be voluntarily off loading his shares- that would result in the share price reaching 20c by today or suspended trading

- Trusting strangers on an anonymous chat forum can be a risky business. Even more risky than the stock market.
- I have tried to warn the vulnerable, being those without adequate savvy: e.g.: https://swrict.blogspot.com/2018/11/sharechat-warning.html

seems limy love for this company grows by the day- must be blind love or an addiction to the uncertainty of false assumption- cant seem to buy any other share not even for a short term trade- upped my shareholding by a further 20% with the excitement of this being my retirement package through value and dividends-

The Steinhoff accelerated book build looks fantastic now with the market blood bath- at least the stars are lining up and its not all doom and gloom. now would be the best time to get more shares of Steinhoff or even better the pick of the top 40...naspers looking more attractive than Steinhoff today-
