What do you guys think of ARI for a long between 147-150 target 167, thanks in advance.

I think resources generally are very oversold and showing good value!! IMP, ANG, ARI, AGL all at fire sale prices!!

I think its 1.5% p.a. charged daily with min R250 whereas SSF's are R 60 per open contract and you can trade as many times as you want on the open contract.

I stand to be corrected, but it should be consistent on both sides (whether short or long)....but that fee of 1.5% is a rip off.  [IG is 0.2% (and my SB OST is 0.5%)]

I think CFD's are cheaper then if going long but more expensive if going short as there is a min R 250 or 1.5% fee plus interest too (for PSG at least)

Totally agreed....

Bulls - do you use SSF (on SBK OST)? and trade cfds on IG?  (IG margin is 10% (which is slightly higher than SBK OST), but IG brokerage fee is less by quite some margin) - hence I prefer trading CFDS on IG.

ssf are more expensive. for an average trade it will cost R400 VERSUS R57 for cfd.(with sbk ost)

On the short term trades i use CFDS (as they brokerage fees are less, net of the daily interest charge) vs SSF.

If I was holding 2months or greater (which I was doing on my longer term portfolio I was taking SSF, as no daily interest, although the brokerage fee was higher, but the growht in the share price far exceeded the brokerage costs).....but with all this volatility around, I am not holding my positions for long.....hence me using CFDS on the shorter term trades....

Just for interest why do you choose a CFD over a SSF, I thought the costs of CFD's were higher ?

I agree that it was great to finally see some green.....it now needs to break through R105.50 short term resistance, then back up to R112 level (of the LDT value).....then only banked the full dividend...

I am still optimistic on VOD going forward - PE of 12 times, dividend around 6.5.....(vs MTN at a PE of 16, dividend around 4.5%).  Like both and hold both, but trading Vod on CFD....

With the mining sector antics of AMCU/NUM demands, and slowing commodity prices (and potential furhter rand weakness) and increased administered costs - surely shorting the Resi would be a good trade......the momentum is clearly down (irrespective of these individual shares being on PE of less than 10)....??

In addition, I will continue to short gold stocks (after a potential bounce of today)... :P

Vodacom move today plus divi puts it nearly back to where it was. At last a profitable day.

Traders corner seems abit optimistic and started taking out long positions. I'm still abit skeptical even though there are some very tempting opportunities out there.

Excellent trading statement from ZCI, but i put my order in at 12:01 and the system went into auction until 12:15 so someone landed up out-bidding me. Why did it go into auction???????

thats correct i have held the share for one day after LDT, so if i sell now will i still be eligible? The payout is only in a week or two's time.

thanks yusuf.

Hi Jeremy, Yes you will get the dividend if you sell after the LDT, what matters is whether you were holding the stock at the close of business on LDT.
