A lot of hype suddenly in share - typical of a rumour having spread. Either its true or time for a pullback ? Any news giving fundamental rationale for the jump ?

I picked up quite a few ADI at R4.50 at the end of last year. Have had a 66% return in just a few months

Nearly got some on Thursday last week @ 630, but chickened out. Now 745.
Such is life. Was a buy @ 600 or so.
I picked some up @570 as a speculative trade just before they announced their results a few weeks back... sold today at a 30% return.
I got lucky... wait for a pull back now.

I looked at this stock in February of 2013.
It was at R2 I think (after I saw an article in the finweek punting it) ... felt it had run too hard then.
Look at me now :-(

There's a lot of hype about this one isn't there. I like it. It ticks all the right boxes, especially wrt the industry it's in but I am a bit worried about the fast growth they've experianced over the last couple of years. Sounds almost wrong to put it that way but given that when I bought ADI a year or so ago it was for the long term. When a share runs like this it's great for making a quick buck with a in-and-out, but since I'm in for the LT I'd much rather see slow and steady growth. The reason for this is that I'm concerned that the growth potential for ADI has been overpriced at current levels. It's sitting on a PE of around 24 now and for a smallcap IT company that is quite expensive. The golden rule is that at the end of the day the fundamentals will rule and I just hope ADI lives up to these high expectations.
I agree. Now due to tax you cannot sell it as you will loose a large percentage of your gains. High PE and what to do is on your mind if you are holding for long term. I also hate it when my stocks climb too high too quickly. CML is my problem at this stage. Not doing nothing but cannot sell.
I would suggest to just keep it and not see the good gains as "in your pocket".
I draw a line along the normal curve on the chart and consider anything higher as not mine. If it drops back to this line, then it is mine.
She looks to have strong legs for more up though.
I started here with nothing and still have most of it left.

Starting a new thread for ADI because I can't find an existing one. Is anybody else holding? It's made one of the largest and quickest jumps I've seen in a share. Basically doubling! Up almost 100% over the last month. They've announced an excellent set of half year results, made some key acquisitions (Swicon360), and they are placed in a sector with massive potential LT growth. But doubling in a month... (and still going strong!) Maybe market is finally taken note of the potential here. I thought I'd put it out there on the radars, hear some opinions. Smiley, If I remember correctly you also own some? -Hope you're still holding. |
I bought a good chunk before the results were release, up 74% currently on my portfolio, not bad considering holding for a few months
I think the hype could die down soon enough though or not(ellies last year
