moved SAB stop 515.00/VOD stop at 115.00
Hi Delta, whats a realistic target for SAB ?
Posted 28 October 2013 - 02:03 PM
@sirgrantfleming...only time i use stop limits is when a trade is in the green. i revise triggered stops daily for trades that are in the money..if market opens with a gap under stop and no buyer-no prob just wait it out until previous sell target is reached.
NB: i'm not advocating this strategy just stating what has worked for me, if your account is large enough to ride volatility you'll rarely loose $ regardless of whether you an alsi or cfd trader

Quick question Delta - how do you play a stop-loss if the market opens a downward gap on your stoploss? So say you set it to trigger at 515 with a sell at 515 and the market opens at 514 and tanks from there?

be patient. adjust your stop as it rises but dont sell due to impatience.
you need to beat the market and if you are in a share that is rising/due to rise due to technicals then hold with a strict stop.
i have sold many a time due to impatience and have lost out on good gains.
i will consider selling based on a "time" stop but in a bull market and with good technicals its just silly!!
Thanks for the words of wisdom bulls!

thanks Bulls..in at 82(could of waited for a technical confirmation @83.10 before buying but took a chance ) carrying large exposure so quite happy with the uptick, will be following it closely with trailing stops once over the R85 level.

yep, always follow with trailing stops rather than close out position. Bulls, what entry price you in at?
84 got in late on this one but see it could go to 89-90 missed it when it went to 8255 can kik myself because it was a flippin good entry price!
i always battle to buy overbought stocks and in a bull market like this we hardly get decent pullbacks. the thing is to buy anyway but have a very strict stop incase it turns.if you are stopped out then you need to enter quickly again.

I've just about had it with DSY... Getting real impatient here, so maybe it will bite me in the a$$ later on, but if it doesn't move today I am getting out.
Just got a buy recommendation on DSY from a broker after it has consolidated at the R83 level
