got an order for 8200.. ive had multiple trades with this one...what a winner of a share lol

initial order was placed@8201  then revised up to 8250(now filled) - blame my trigger happy constitution  made provision(always) to add further down if need be and certainly one of the better stocks to be "long"

still seeing lot of sellers but fortune favors the brave

agreed and still long

Hopefully this is the momentum to get the share price through that R219.80 resistance level (on the daily).......and that dividend is really juicy!!

MTN results out, on initial review I thought it was pleasing (considering Nigeria currency effect on earning):

- Group subscribers increased 7.5% (223,4m)

- Revenue increased 6.4%

- Data revenue increased 33.2%

- EBITDA increased 10.2%

- HEPS increased 8.9%

- Final Dividend of R8 per share

Still LONG......

agreed and still long

yeah sure :) ..feeling a little burnt out from trading multiple counters so aggressively over the last few months - its been profitable but extremely time consuming, with alsi my time is focused on a single dynamic which will be refreshing.

OK cool, thanks for sharing.

hi..thanks for your post, it is a relevant question indeed.  ideally no longer than 8 week hold but i have in the past held for up to 4 months and still made profit(APN comes to mind

there are no hard, fixed rules in trading cfd only guidelines..sometimes you get away with stepping outside those "rules" and come out a winner but strictly speaking one should stick to planned strategy(time period/stoploss/target)

if you in a position currently and need perspective just post what counter/stock it is, when you entered, what your entry was and hopefully someone can offer you an alternate view/analysis

good luck!

Thanks delta66

My typical hold period is anywhere from 1 day to 4 months. Im just trying to evaluate the viability of CFD's for this holding period.

The reason being is of course the leverage. Trading un-leveraged means my capital is tied up and I can only have about 2-3 trades on at a time.

I think I should probably do a few calculations from prior trades to see how everything would have played out in terms of interest, costs etc if they had been cfd trades. Many moons ago I had a spreadsheet (I think from Standard Bank) which had all the calculations for interest per day, costs etc. Will have to see if I can find it online again somewhere,...unless someone can point me in the right direction to something similar.

Many thanks.
