From David Shapiro's twitter feed "Jim Chanos renowned short seller suggests shorting MTN at Ira Sohn conference in NY on Nigerian exposure. Influential conference" Also mentioned the exposure to RSA as a longer term problem. Maybe scale into the position over the next 6 months or so Soutie?

Forum's been quiet of late....
What you say to a resource counter to purchase in the new year. I'm looking at a few but my area of focus at the moment is Sasol. The first sign of an uptick in the oil price will have it out of the blocks running, Rand hedge of sorts, The ethane cracker in the states ( some complicated sh%t that to value ) massive market share in SA, BBBBBEEEEE sorted without any complications further down the road. Big barriers to entry.....Well you get the gist me hopes.
Biggie is just how low will it go Tech Analysis not the strongest string in my bow..
What say the group...? What say the lurkers....? What say the beserkers....?
Sasol is a R500 stock. The only real question is: do you think oil prices will fall further? I don't think so, which makes R360 a pretty good place to get in. It might not give you the best return but you are getting that relatively safer 25% in this market. IMO

Agree with your views on Sasol. I also like Billiton in the resources sector, along with Sasol they are probably the most solid of the resource companies. Billiton has probably one of the lowest cost ratios in the industry so they will be one of the last companies to fail if things don't turn around. They also have a bit of oil in their portfolio.
I just have a feeling that Billiton could go lower in the short term, especially if they change their dividend policy which a lot of people think is inevitable. Long term it should do well.
