For me around 30% is lights out shooting territory.

This stock plus Famous Brands = wow! Not owning one of them = son of a..! But joking aside, amazed by this one I'll admit..

Not shooting the lights out but over 20% is still great but investors were expecting more. I would not buy at these levels as it is near the upper BB.

Do not try and bend the market. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see, that it is not the market that bends, it is only yourself.

I punted big time on CML some years ago at 1400 and then at 2400 and now have enough to retire to Portugal. The reason it is going up now is this:
Markets have reached all time highs that Coronation did not expect if you read the CEO's report from the last SENS. Their profits will be high again and the Management Fees are locked in until Sept results. So we good to go till then.
A Trading Statement should be out soon that the market is expecting hence the sudden price movement.

Booked our flights for 28 May.

Strong volume today and now 1% away from R100

Possible trading statement toward mid/end of April so might run up on that

Generally I try to avoid high PE shares but I bought into CML last year and already it has exceeded my expectations. I missed out on Curro and Naspers because i deemed them too expensive. Yet they are still going great guns. I guess there's a point to be made to buy these shares regardless their valuation.

FYI - In a week its my three year CML anniversary. Three years ago I bought my last tranche of CML and have never sold. CGT here I come!

i was hit HARD when i sold out on the gains under 3 yrs    i remember your post while back in one of the threads(re:CML) to keep for at least 3yr period-- LOL!!...should of listened, would of paid less tax and in the interim made even more money

by far one of the best/consistent short/medium term performing stocks i have in my portfolio.

CML has never been a cyclical stock. She has since inception been heading up and up. Not taking the 2008/9 crash into consideration.

She is exempt from cycles due to the type of income they make with very little capex as stated,

A small increase in AUM is still an increase above the previous report and results will show those gains in profit. The markets have done well for them to show another great performance come the next report.

Why is this stock still in demand even at this price?

She has been making higher highs and higher lows for some time and R90 is on the cards at month end. If not sooner.

Hi Orca, I know we have had this debate countless times over the years but I still think as long as perf fees are an important source of revenue for them they will be hit in down cycles. Only major down cycle in the last decade was the 08 crash and that killed everything so I agree not a 'normal' contraction.

Also, think about it this way, when the market contracts so do their AUM. Especially true as their AUM reaches the size where it essentially approximates the market as a whole. Therefore, if they got 1% from AUM pre-contraction, they would get 1% of a smaller AUM number post-contraction.

Don't get me wrong, I love the stock,  the company, the business model etc ... but all companies have an Achilles heel and this is the only major one I can see..

Be amazed...be very amazed..

but seriously, one shouldnt be. think about this business. few people run it. very little capex investment required. generates massive earnings from massive operating margin. as money supply inflates over time they continue to grow. where else is a company's, the government's, private investors money supposed to go?

yes it is somewhat cyclical as perf fees relate to the market's cycle but over long periods that is irrelevant.
