Got about 30 different stocks in my portfolio, of which CML makes out 50%. All held in CFD's. Profit (actually growth?) YTD is 100%. And I made MANY mistakes. Still do. Thank you CML!

How does dividend tax work with CFD's?

Hi BBW,

DWT will work the same way it does with normal stocks. If you hold 1000 contracts and a dividend of R1 per share is declared, you will receive R850 in your account, and the dividend declaring company will withhold the 15% DWT payable by the dividend declaring company directly to SARS.

Bought some more this morning to with what I bought last week - now 23% of my portfolio. Might take it to 30% - but no more.

Hi guys...I'm a newbie. The trajectory that cml will follow will depend on a few factors. Assets under management which should continue growth given their no.1 plexcrown rating as end of march. Their offshore funds have massive room for growth and are currently small in their portfolio. Performance fees at beating benchmark and overall performance of the stock market. Generally a rising market is good for units trusts when it comes to mandatory fees as its based on value of asset portfolio. The other revenue comes from performance fees. One needs to remember that even if the stock market falls cml can still increase their performance fees by beating their benchmark. A falling stock market has no bearing on performance fees. I don't think however that they provide a breakdown in their financials between performance and mandatory fees. Their forward run will depend on the interplay between these factors.

ORCA

You don't have to hold for 3 years to pay CGT vs your average rate (check with a good tax consultant). It depends on your intent when you bought the stock. The tax consequences should never be the reason for buying or selling a stock.

On the issue of a PE of 30, this is the norm of late for growth stocks, such as some retailers.

Up over 3% today. I will have to reprimand her to stop going up so fast. It is not a race as there is no finish line. My portfolio looks good but I have reconciled myself for a 10% drop or even 20% for that matter. For tax sake, I cannot sell it as I still have 2 years left from my last trade to keep me as a non trader.

I look at it this way. She has done over 110% the past year and her normal was 60%. So a drop of 20% will still be better than normal gain py. The other plus would be the PE ratio will be back to normal.

What I don't understand is that the PE will be over 30 at a price of 9237. Care to explain?

Well that depends on what FY earnings Bull is using.

If I use my estimate of 345c then the PE is 26...which is what it has been at.

A lower end estimate of 325 still only gets you to 28.

If the market really performs poorly in the second half of the year (not unrealistic given the recent good performance) then earnings could be lower and under that scenario I doubt we'll be seeing even R70 come end of year.

Despite my optimism I'm a Hold on CML right now, for the simple reason that it is expanding so fast that it is now almost 30% of my portfolio..and I haven't added any since it was 20%..

Do not try and bend the market. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. Then you'll see, that it is not the market that bends, it is only yourself.

I am very new in the share game and am pondering between adding CML to my portfolio or adding more REM (which is currently about 45% of my portfolio - and has done very nicely) to my portfolio.  Also wondering whether it is better to wait till post the dividend to buy in to CML - do you CML gurus expect a drop?

CML is sailing in uncharted water so it could do anything ex divi. I am seriously looking to dump my MTA and buying more CML. Bull's figure looks good

Thanks HDB. Are all these auction bids visible on a DMA platform, or where can one get them?

That was  bid at opening acution together with with other lower  bids..Therefore average of all bids was auction opening price!!

Can anyone PLEASE tell me, did the market bid for CML go up to 6123 yesterday morning at 09h01?? Surely then my IGM platform's got it wrong, as it only shows 5971 highest bid yesterday?
