Bought some more ellies today. Looks very cheap at under R9.50. Expecting the upcoming results to push this one well above R10.

FFS get a good nights sleep, we need you sharp bru.   ;)

Give an oke a break Soutie ;)

I had just landed in Boston after a 20 odd hour trip

@FerrariFan...in your post earlier I could of sworn you mentioned dropping SAB... I'll put it down to jet lag because no clear thinking person would be doing anything of that sort. Unless you've  been drinking one too many of their products.

On this note..did you see the SAB results today.. :wub:

Where do you get this data from? The Satrix data for the ETF doesn't reflect anything like that, or I'm not reading proper.

1Y: 38.91%
2Y: 29.28%
3Y: 27.04%

http://www.etfsa.co....ndi_mar2013.pdf

It states Annualized gains ie per year. Plus those gains are 3 months old and it has done very well in the past 3 months.

Here is a 3 year chart for STXIND. I included CML so it shows % and not value as in comparison mode.

I chose CML for my portfolio because it is one of the least volatile stocks but STXIND beats it by far. Three year gain is 140%.Attached File  STXIND.jpg   37.99KB   43 downloads

Hi Gamma, that is my share weighting at the moment. You will see they add up to 100%, My returns look much better than that :)

I will post a chart in the morning. You will see that it has hardly any volatility and great gains. I can only do that on my Tab and it is at my shop.

Thanks orca, I'll probably drop IPL, BTI and SAB, still thinking about MDC, SPG and HYP, because I added them in the past week, it depends on their growth rate.

M = 15% Yours was 5%

6M = 23%

2Y = 75% or 37.5%pa

3Y = 135% or 45%pa

Just for interest sake. STXIND performance:

3M = 15% Yours was 5%

6M = 23%

1Y = 53%

2Y = 75% or 37.5%pa

3Y = 135% or 45%pa

How many Fund Managers beat this? After fees. None. How many investors here on this forum beat this? Perhaps half .

What I'm getting at Ferrari is as a newbie rather go for STXIND as it has a long history of good gains and is the least volatile "Stock" on the JSE.

I have done well with my stocks over the years but I feel I am also done now and so are my stocks. Had a good run and will switch to STXIND and relax.

I was thnking about adding it soon, maybe after a slight drop?

Too many stocks. Dump your worst performers. Your 5% over 3 months is okish seeing that it was during a good run. You have so many stocks that you may as well invest in an Index Tracker Fund. After you have dumped your lousy stocks then use STXIND as your benchmark to beat. If you cannot beat it then buy it.

Hey guys, I just under three months ago I started a ghost portfolio to see if I would be any good using actual money, so here's my portfolio:

BTI. 6.7%
BIL. 5.43%
DBXWD 9.57%
HYP 4.56%
INL 5.67%
IPL 2.08%
ITU 4.92%
MDC 5.6%
MNP 3.17%
NPN 7.05%
REM 2.84%
RIN 10.28%
SAB 4.85%
SPG 4.78%

Cash 22.5%

So far it has grown by 5.68% overall.

Any constructive criticism?
