Does anyone know when by these indexes will need to buy the snh shares and what volumes?

Indexes doesn't buy shares... Indexes are there to measure a subset of stock markets.  It could be used to set some benchmarks for some fund managers, depending on that specific fund rules.

Most of these fund managers do their own projections to see what stocks might be included/excluded from a specific index way before it actually happens.

In the Steinhoff/SDax case, the official re-entry for SNH into SDax is 23rd March 2020.  For SNH to be added is good, but like I said before, I think a lot of the benefits was already calculated into the price even before the official announcement...
