If you review the comments on the Seeking Alpha you will find and interesting discussion around expected future value for Steinhoff. We will all take a view and be either positive or negative and then look for confirmation bias. If you look at the comments there is more upside than down. By this time those of us that are long have learnt to be resilient while those that are out continue a negative view often quoting old recycled news.

Hi SK
The whole point of SNH going foward is not about reconstruction of the subsidiaries, rescue , trying to extension loan facilities, new management, etc etc.
This is where most missing the point...
Simple question
What is going to effect Steinhoff going forward?
All what the new management is doing or ????????
let me give you an example to make it easier to understand..
1. You have a wonderful thriving business but over the years you avoided paying your true taxes.
2. Sars comes over and does a full investigation. and then you being told investigation is taking longer than expected
3. This has become public knowledge.
4. Your suppliers are now scared to supply you goods in case you cany pay. Existing creditors you ask for extension of time but new goods you foreced to pay cash.
5. Your business now facing cash flow problems
6. This is going ob for over a year now
7. You continuously think and say to your new suppliers and old creditors that SARS investigation is old news and your business is doing fine.
8. you approach me for goods on credit....
Will im supply you goods? Of cos yes you will say as sars investigation although not complete is old news.
Go figure now.....
Simple example u i gave so dont tell me old news....This old news will kill this company
STEINHOFF WILL ONLY BE A GOING CONCERN IF AND WHEN ALL PAST PROBLEMS, CLAIMS AND CONTINGENT LIABILITIES KNOWN AND UNKNOWN ( the old news) BECOME A REALITY AND ARE SORTED OUT BY ALL INVOLVED AND ACCORDINGLY DEALT WITH IN THE AFS.
Tip: 90% of your time and effort in investing must be spent mitigating risk while only 10% should be spend dreaming about the dollars, cars and holidays you going to make or go on.
