Always good get different insight..pleased sold bhp 2 days ago..will buy back on a drop..think copper going go this year

Hi M..if you look at my posts somewhere below replying to Leo, i told Leo BHP should start dropping from this coming week.

Reason :  Copper and most commodities ran up due to Chinese New year holidays. Experience tell me from previous years The users of these commodities start " stocking up" prior to the annual one weeks closure to get ready once they reopen to get things in full swing. This normally pushes up the prices of commodities a month before closure as demand exceeds supply. Tomorrow will be interesting once China reopens after annual new year shutdown. My take copper will start retracing as went to high too quickly.

This is what i call a streetwise view unlike the analysis and technical chartists...

good call.  Agree with your views on copper, seeing many analysts expecting a short term rise in price.

Thanks..was aware palladium/ platinum..this one not for me though and neither gold shares even in a rocky share market its not my thing

Agree with the gold shares - it's like watching golf  .  From a homework perspective Sibanye-Stillwater got beaten for 2 reasons.  The strikes (ongoing), and high number of deaths at the mines (which causes massive productivity interrupts).  In general don't like mining shares, the palladium is what caught my attention. So bought both Sibanye-Stillwater and Anglo Plat.

Likewise with the Vale dam disaster in Brazil where 150 people died is causing the iron ore price to shoot up.  The mining company license also revoked for their biggest iron ore mine.

In that instance polly could be giving good advise to look at ACL.  With a P/E of 4.6 really cheap.  Or if you want a lower risk look at Kumba (KIO).

Im not gold fan either as investment

"Following the acquisitions made in 2016 and the first half of 2017, Sibanye-Stillwater is now a leading global multi-commodity company. Sibanye-Stillwater is currently the third largest producer of platinum and palladium (and the only primary producer of palladium) in the world. Sibanye-Stillwater owns the most geographically diverse asset base in the global PGM sector."

Bought in December at 10.21c a share, up 39% since then.   SA produce 90% of the world's platinum, both platinum and palladium used in vehicle catalytic converters.

"Catalytic converter prototypes were first designed in France at the end of the 19th century, when only a few thousand "oil cars" were on the roads; it was constituted of an inert material coated with platinum, iridium, and palladium, sealed into a double metallic cylinder."  wikipedia

AMCU strike faces further delays

Johannesburg, 8 February 2019. Sibanye-Stillwater (Tickers JSE: SGL and NYSE: SBGL) advises that
the Labour Court (the Court) today, rejected Sibanye Stillwater’s application on technical legal
grounds (point in limine on Res Judicata).

Due to AMCU causing ongoing delays to the verification process ordered by the Court on 21 December
2018*, the Company had applied to the Court for the cessation of the strike, pending the outcome
of the verification process. The Court however found that the previous decision of the Court was
final in its effect.

“We respect the Court’s ruling, but are disappointed that the merits of our case were not heard,
and the ruling was made on a legal technicality. We remain extremely concerned about the impact
the protracted strike is having on the financial wellbeing of our employees, which is being
exacerbated by ongoing delays to the verification process due to AMCU’s continual legal
challenges. We will continue to pursue various avenues, without compromising other stakeholders,
to bring an end to this strike as soon as possible,” said CEO Neal Froneman.

Hi P.... Any advice on sibanye? SGL

Sgl....

depends  if you a gold bull or bear....im neither and dont trade it..( again ill get attacks from the punters but its my choice , my money)

gold has made a nice recovery from lows but hit some sort of resistance...Experience has shown me that gold normally runs in dec and jan and thereafter drops....sometimes like a stone....

However this year could...i say could be different because we all expecting a major correction in world markets...If that happens investors normally flock back to gold or USD as safe heaven.

I dont trade or invest in gold shares or the physical gold bars as im not a fan of gold.

Only advise i can solidly give is ....you must make your own decision on your own take of gold rpice and rand/dollar going foward...Gold shares are very sensitive to both..

As far as SGL is concerned , its a punters stock..If you believe in the gold story and rand/dollar fx then better counters to buy than sgl..ie anglo gold or GFI..

SGL also does plat and run last few days has been on strength of impalas and anglo plats share price... But going forward, i wont buy in here...just my opinion. ( remember it can go to R20.00 next month so dont blame me lol)
