anyone else...A, S , Jakes. Mhlato?? does volume push up price too or purely market maker price??
As far as I am aware, the Alsi future on the safex board is supply and demand driven. There are obviously market forces that keep this in line with the underlying equities.
For every buyer on Alsi future, there has to be a seller.

we have now failed the 20EMA(HR) twice in 2 days at exactly the same time(11:00)...not good at all.
FTSE seems to be dipping
GBPZAR dipping ad now @ 17.85

That's what i meant by "should be"...and you are right, MM's controlling BLT, SAB and AAL with the GBP/ZAR and thus the J200.

I take my hat off to anyone that bought the dip **** 150 points up ALsi is a beast not to bothered with rest of the markets why i am to stupid to know
might be playing catch up tomorrow....alsi not following global trend at mo that's for sure

Im my opinion, I think its purely market maker who determines price and not demand and supply!!...But could be otherwise!!
Ben yeah I am aware of that...but my question was just about the futures price and what it is based on!!
I also think IG after hours are using market maker prices. During normal hours, IG use futures to determine their price adjusted for forex of cos..

During market hours it should be demand & supply of the big dogs +ZAR and between 08:30 - 09:00 and 16:50 - 17:30 = MM's + ZAR imo

HDB - the difference between spot and futures is the divvies to be paid out on spot (as you are aware). So algo's will calculate the time decay over the full 90 day period, with some intra-day adjustments as we approach the Friday pay outs. So the price is more or less set by this calculation. IG will rip you up to 50 pip spread when things get volatile, but they are MM. Safex trades are more transparent, both with bid/offers and volume distribution.

i have a serious but simple question and it is not a trick one...
Is the SA top 40 futures bid and sell price based on demand and supply or it is market maker determined?

Sunensis..would of liked to have been short(DAX) off opening..if there is an escalation of russian forces in ukraine markets are going further down
