Also, CFR long anyone?
Difficult to see how tomorrow's full year results can be a positive catalyst...unless they surprise on the dividend like last year

Naspers is still likely go up tomorrow though, right?
Watch the Nasdaq tonight...that will be your cue...I am however a nervous holder of NPN...the volatility is off the charts and that worries me!

Tencent will open up very strong...difficult to say what NPN will do tomorrow as a lot of the good news are being factored into NPN performance today already...i.e. NPN up 8% whilst Tencent ended up 1.3% only...so some catch up to do first for Tencent.

HDB, I agree...problem is for now the market believes Ian and Ralph re synergies to be extracted...the big risk is whether Woolies management can execute on the 20% private label promise!!

thanks for that. think i'll monitor this stock. with news like that i dont think it will fall hard anytime soon
This is the reason for strength in Woolies...
Woolworths hosted a visit for both buy and sell side analysts and fund managers to see the David Jones and CRG (Country Road Group) stores in Australia. The two-day trip enabled us to see both the main CBD and suburban stores with management from both sides of the business, in order to further assess the potential of the DJS acquisition.
Overall view – The opportunity to turn around the David Jones business was very clear, in our view. This in turn made the acquisition rationale of Woolworths clearly evident and we came away more positive, about both the deal and the upside potential.
Key learnings –
- David Jones is coming off a low base which implies that even with basic retail skills and no additional synergies there is considerable upside potential in the business.
- We had underestimated the significant opportunities to leverage the value in the property portfolio from better usage but more so from further development.
- We also see considerable benefits for the CRG, of which Woolworths owns 88%, through the DJS acquisition.
- Woolworths' management believes that in time there will be a further significant opportunity in establishing a food business, similar to the Woolworths offering in South Africa, in Australia.
David Jones is old departments stores like out Stuttafords and old John Orrs!! Was there...not impressed!! Management will have to get stuck in to implement the changes!!

So Tencent results looking good and NPN up 8%. Is it safe to assume that Tencent is going to open on fire tomorrow in the easy and further boost NPN?

if it breaks the 7785 mark then you should panic. if it doesnt then it should be in for a nice freefall

FSR pretty close to hitting the R40 mark
If it does, then who knows where it goes from there
I agree this share has run way too hard, but it might still surprise us
