I think only release sens when Frankfurt also open...they missed out to buy cheap...tommorrow am think theirs will shoot up
An extreme move like this will bring 2 extreme high emotions, some will sell at any price, but some might also buy at any price.
Today I see the price is jumping up and down, and (I think maybe) it will continue to do so in the coming weeks, as the news spread all over the media, and then if they actually do file for this week (chee that's very soon), which seams to me is becoming very likely, as they have been complaining about these leases it's been time, and saying that they were defrauded by some previous managers at MF conspiring with property agents into leasing and buying unnecessary duplicate new shops.
To me I think that if they liquidate (unlikely) then they can use the money to pay off some of the debt, or if they use the bankruptcy to reorganize (restructure) then even better.
Mattress Firm is to a large degree a separate legal entity than Steinhoff. Steinhoff is just a share holder in Mattress Firm (although the only one).
(The above is just my opinion, and I personally don't know if it's right or wrong, so please don't use it as part of your decision making, and practice safe trading and/or investment).

what still baffles me is why would snh make a global announcement to lenders asking for more money for MF....and then couple weeks later we get this news?
does not make sense and if it plays out like this i aint gonna have much confidence in snh management (why ask for money on something thats making u losses).....as trump would say....not good, not good!
and i see this news as ok but the market? wtf is up with the reaction.....thought it would go up!
I think they needed money to pay the vender in full to speed up the process.

Good call.
We need concrete resolutions from this. Until then, nothing is really going to happen

"it seeks to exit costly store leases and shore up its business", people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

More than 20 retailers have filed bankruptcy since the beginning of 2017. Toys "R" Us Inc did not survive and liquidated, while others including children's retailer Gymboree Corp and Payless ShoeSource Inc reorganized.
Analysts at Piper Jaffray Companies said last summer that a bankruptcy would allow Mattress Firm to clean up its real estate portfolio and improve cash flow and profitability.

what was the value of the SNH share price in 2015 during listing?
what was the true value of the 2015 snh share price?
the listing price and value of snh equals the value of assets and potential income.
price and value is based on demand and perception?
shareholders are seeking compensation for deception of the proposed value in 2015. this will be a percentage of true assets less debt. who was responsible for misrepresentation? and what percent of the misrepresentation is actual and what is perceived.
unlike enron SNH is a going concern "diabolically- by accounting standards"- which will be entrenched once restructuring finalised" if restructuring not finalised the company is bankrupt and the assets will be stripped and sold off
VEB and class action will find extreme difficulty in proving the following:
1. SNH intentionally defrauded the market- this has to be conclusively proven. here SNH will deflect to Markus and co and Delloitte. this strategy will reduce SNH responsibility and expectation of settlement from SNH
2. The quantum- most difficult as it is not the difference in share price in 2015 versus 2018- price is determined by perception and expectation
as it stands the best case for share holders is to buy back their shares that were dumped. settle the case for an amicable amount and drive value in share recovery and settlement. cant understand why VEB and the shareholders are not being strategic. perhaps a counter suit against VEB for playing on shareholder emotions rather than acting in their best interests....as they boldly scream out. even better- SNH must allocate a billion shares to aggrieved parties as settlement. share price will quadruple and this will still put more money in the shareholders pockets
just a thought
