Hey Yusuf...why the interest in SOH? is it just that you have a preference towards small caps (i notice your interest in Morvest etc) or have you done research/valuations that have lead you to your interest. How are you gauging the company?

Yesterday's SENS on Morvest seems promising, buying at auction...
they purchased the asset for R60 mil in 2011, now possibly selling it at 123mil (that's what I gathered atleast)
was out-bidded, didn't manage to enter. Will watch from the sidelines for now

Rangold (RNG) have declared a special divi of 225 cents from income reserves, due to recent settlement with PWC, The divi is 50% of the current share price - R4.50.
Interesting, what do you guys think?
Think they've done similar in the past and everything is already priced-in. Not much money to be made in the short-run

Yusufm1,
This share has been good to you, hey?
But when will it stop bouncing around like this?
I would be lying if I said I knew, almost 3% of the share capital was traded yesterday. But it'll continue to trend upwards so I only take long positions in case it does move up. I'm basically just trading the volatility

The next hurdle for WSL is the granting of the water use license for Elanspruit. Once granted it should start to move northward.
Yusufm1 do you not think the 14m share buy back will be an off-market transaction as it's between related parties...?
It does seem so, seeing as it was supposed to take place at the close of trading yesterday, but nothing went through on the open market

South Ocean Holdings Ltd (SOH):
interim results expected to be released by the beginning of August.
Share Price: 80c
NAV: 348cps
HEPS: 21cps
EPS: -77.7cps
"The main reason for the decrease in earnings is an impairment charge amounting to R148,1 million (2012: R175,0 million) against the
goodwill, which arose through the acquisition of Radiant Group Proprietary Limited in 2007. The balance of the goodwill was impaired during
the year, as approved by the Directors, based on current and future market conditions affecting the earnings of Radiant. Steps have been
implemented by management to improve the profitability of this segment which should materialise during the next few years.
Prospects
The market conditions will remain challenging during the 2014 financial year, however the results are expected to show a significant improvement compared to the 2013 financial year. Management are in the process of refocusing the lighting and electrical accessories segment and regaining lost market share. Cost control and improving working capital will continue to be a focal point during the year, leveraging on operational efficiencies and capitalising on existing marketing opportunities. The Group has submitted a number of tenders to Parastatals (Government, Eskom) since the previous period, which has not yet been awarded. Any successful tenders will increase revenues."
- from 2013 results
They look interesting with results coming up soon(maybe a trading statement reflecting improvement in earnings as hinted that may occur
)
Any comments?
Relatively large volumes going through at 85c at the moment...
